Sugababes: About You Now
Blame it on being trapped inside my room for a solid three day block, but I’ve been waxing nostalgic all weekend. That, and my sinuses are flaring up. As a result, I found myself reliving the releases of 2007–A damn fine year in Pop, I’d say.
“About You Now” is the major single release that brought the ‘Babes back into the Euro-spotlight in late September of ’07, peaking at #1 in the UK. Like a prelude to “Since U Been Gone,” the pluck-heavy jam features an unstoppable chorus, high-octane verses, and killer electro-tinged breakdowns. It’s not too surprising, considering Dr. Luke was behind both this and Kelly Clarkson‘s track. Though the acoustic version featured on Catfights & Spotlights was magetic in its own somber manner, the original glittering stompfest is by far superior.
Anyway, “About You Now” is a shining moment in the Babes catalogue. If you missed out on it when it was originally released, take heed and grab on…It’s a killer.
Oh, and the video’s quite nice too. Plenty of yellow for everyone!
