It’s the freakin’ weekend, Muusers…So why not offer up some of the finer remixes strewn throughout my mailbox? Away we goooo!

First, the Magnetic Route Mix of Saint Etienne’s “Method Of Modern Love.” The revamp issues a fairly minimal retouching, including some darker flares of bass and a series of saltshaker synths in place of the brighter notes. Still, it’s worth a go!

Then there’s the DJ Chernobyl mix of N.A.S.A.‘s “Whatchadoin?” which–as evidenced through a couple past posts (do not miss the immense Villains remix, whatever you do)–is becoming quite the remix-friendly fixture here at MuuMuse. Chernobyl’s re-mash caters to the Arular-hearted fans longing for some of that good ol’ baile funk at it’s best. Seriously, slip this one in between horn-heavy groovers like “Bucky Done Gun” and “10 Dollar” and you’d never notice the difference. Ahh, the good old days…

And finally, we have the Kim Fai mix of Ladyhawke‘s smash single, “Paris Is Burning,” a lush and building minimally moody re-rub that somewhat calls to mind the Bill Hamel remix of Britney‘s “Touch Of My Hand.”

Look–it’s not like I’m trying to reference Brit Brit in every post. It’s simply within my nature.

Deal.

0e8f244ba8148f08313fa037b2710953 Antigone: Promiscuity
Rarely does a press release catch my eye, but the latest package from Antigone‘s headquarters has prompted a second listening:

Lady Gaga, Little Boots, La Roux … L’ Antigone?

Just when you thought it was impossible for another female electro artist to emerge triumphant, in marches Antigone with her second single, ‘Promiscuity’. Oui, it’s about sex. But no-one is writing or singing about sex quite like this. While Lady rides the disco stick and Lily laments the wet patch, sexual love in Antigone land is ambiguous, androgynous and intriguing. Her nod to the 80′s harks semantic, not just graphic and acoustic.

Enter Lady Antigone.

While I found myself feeling ultimately un-sold by her uber-flamboyant, Róisín-tastic 2008 debut, “More Man Than Man,” the follow-up single has finally secured my accolades.

“Promiscuity” is not a club banger, nor a predictable verse-to-chorus sugary pop confection. Rather, it plays like a complex, colorful array of grinding synthesizer streams and glimmering piano melodies. The tune finds our chanteuse bitterly recalling the dastardly efforts of the track’s namesake temptress, Promiscuity. Seductively sashaying in and out of the airwaves like its temptress namesake, Antigone’s vocals glide across the super slick Goldfrapp-friendly production with a delicate, wispy air, as though Kate Havnevik decided to stroll into her local discotheque.

All in all, it’s one of the more clever and exciting dance-pop productions I’ve heard in a while…Consider me an official fan.

Antigone’s long overdue debut album, AntigoneLand, will be released worldwide on April 20.

Aside from the lack of a new photo, I quite like the font.

I wonder if she’s looking at Amy?

It’s like I’ve just found my very own version of Pitchfork.

Thanks to DiscoDelivery, I’ve stumbled upon DJHistory, an all-inclusive, uber-comprehensive resource featuring interviews, news, and exclusives with both up-and-coming DJs and living legends alike on the dance scene.

In short, the site is very much becoming one of my definitive sources for all things disco.

Right now, the site is currently promoting a massive new release called The Disco Files 1973-78, compiled by Vince Aletti, known to be the first reviewer to first write about disco in a 1973 Rolling Stone. Formerly the art editor of the Village Voice and currently a photography reviewer for the New Yorker, Aletti has compiled an exhaustive anthology including over 2,000 reviews, 800 club charts, and dozens of vintage disco photographs in what the site refers to as “the definitive chronicle of disco.”

Needless to say, it’s already been pre-ordered on my end. Coupled with the snazzy front cover and the promising PDF sampler, I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this!

It’s the latest trend to hit the Hollywood scene: You’ve seen it portrayed in Slumdog Millionaire, danced away on stage at this year’s Academy Awards, and even taken under wing by a semi-talented artist and her traveling group of whores.

Yes friends…it’s the influence of Bollywood.

Really, it’s little ironic when you think about it. Like, Bollywood infiltrating Hollywood, when it all began as a reactionary movement following the globalized success of the Hollywood film system and–wait, I’ll stop.

Alas, Muusers–The invasion is getting serious. Even our most cherished of pop stars have now gotten their bitties into the gig.

Don’t believe me?

WELL THEN JUST ASK KYLIE MINOGUE.

“Why?” you might be silently asking yourselves, “Isn’t she off shooting the latest promotional shots for her moderately successful underwear line, Love Kylie?”

WRONG.

…Well, probably right. BUT THERE’S MORE!

According to Kylie Minogue’s official MySpace,

“Kylie is delighted to be collaborating with music legend, AR Rahman on an exclusive song to be featured in the forthcoming Bollywood blockbuster, ‘Blue’ starring Akshay Kumar.

The madness doesn’t simply stop there.

“Who else?!” you’re now probably wondering aloud.

MY QUEEN.

“What?!” you find yourself now shouting at the screen, “But surely she must be too busy being fabulous in everything that she does on a daily basis?!”

True.

BUT ALSO, according to both Desi Hits and her official site, Britney Spears will be teaming up with Rujuta Vaidya (choreographer behind the Slumdog Millionaire performance at the Oscars) for a Bollywood-tinged re-interpretation of the fabulous Rishi Rich Desi Kulcha remix of “Me Against The Music” on her tour, The Circus: Starring Britney Spears.

I’ve only one thing to say about the matter:
I. Can’t. Fucking. Wait.
