Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

HOW DID I MISS THIS?!!
According to the LA Times Blog, Peaches has been hard at work diddling her skittle with Simian Mobile Disco and Drums of Death for this upcoming album, I Feel Cream, due out on May 5 on XL Recordings!
In lieu of the new, Drums of Death has spliced together a massive mix-tape ripe with both old and new selections from the best of the Almighty Teaches of Peaches. Scattered within the tracks are various fan stories, recollecting their favorite live moments with the Queen of Crass. New songs in the mix include the ghetto fabulous “Buck It Like A Billionaire” and “Lose You,” a falsetto heavy electro creeper that may as well be a B-side from Annie‘s Don’t Stop sessions. Fast forward to the half-hour mark to hear “I Feel Cream” in full.
It seems as though Peaches has returned to her synthified electro roots, only this time she’s pumping up the production value and dumbing down the XXX.
Whether it’ll be a hit or miss with the fans remains to be seen–But then again, Peaches doesn’t give a fuck what you think.

Reporting directly from the Jones MySpace:
Following the live thrill of Grace Jones in January, who performed across the UK with the aptly named ‘Hurricane’ tour, Wall Of Sound announce the forthcoming release of ‘Love You To Life’ due March 30th 2009, the second single to be taken from Jones’ masterpiece record, ‘Hurricane’. ‘Love You To Life’ continues the autobiographical nature of ‘Hurricane’ with its moody lyricism and reggae tint.
Is fear the air you breathe?
But seriously…Get pumped. I’m praying for a video, though I know it’s a long shot. The track will see both digital and vinyl release. Also interesting to note:
This year, Grace is expected to headline various Festivals across the UK and Europe; more releases are due from the Hurricane project, along with some new headline dates.
There’ll never be an end to this beginning.
God, this is a quote worthy track, isn’t it?
That’s how I like it.
It’s here: The cover for BoA‘s North American debut album, BoA, due March 17.
Generally, I approve. She’s always had an urge to prove her natural ~flava~, which explains the semi-awkward cornrows and bling bling. Still, I’m seeing a graceful maturation from a bubble-gum pop star to a more confident, assertive performer. And yes…I think I quite like it.
In the meantime, BoA‘s second single, “I Did It For Love” is now streaming to preview (2:39 of it, anyway) on all of her various online media outlets.
To me, “I Did It For Love” is a superior, more dance-worthy number than her first single. In fact, this one truly ought to burn up the dance charts–if not, and I realize this is a stretch, the Pop Charts! Featuring dark, synth-heavy droplets and modern, club-friendly production, “I Did It For Love” is simply more listenable and more agreeable than “Eat You Up.” I’ve had the preview on repeat all night, and cannot wait to hear the track in full!
EDIT: Well, wait no longer. Though it’s only a fan-made splice between the short and longer previews, it sounds as though this is indeed the entire track. It’s seamless as well…Enjoy!
DL: BoA – I Did It For Love (Sharebee)
The video for the single will be directed by Joseph Khan. But seriously, who’s video isn’t directed by Joseph Khan these days?

Yes Muusers, the Yeah Yeah Yeah‘s upcoming single “Zero” from It’s Blitz has just made its way into the audio stream.
“Zero” sounds a bit like The Killers, if fronted by Santogold and produced by…Moby.
“Zero” sounds nothing like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
No crashing drums or howls on high from Karen O to be found here; just cold, calculated New Wave-esque electronica and guitar riffs. Normally I’d be all about the production in a pop song, but for the YYY’s? …Not their strongest suit.
As one fan noted, “Zero” is a grower, not a shower. But for the “their old stuff was better” crew seeking the impossibly raw, blood-n-dirt energy of Fever To Tell, this simply may not bode well for the band.
Let’s just hope that “Zero” is but the launching pad of the album.
EDIT: Upon listening ten more times this morning, I think I may like this after all.
God, they’re so spot on.

Today, the Pet Shop Boys announced the release of a deluxe version of Yes entitled, what else? “etc.”
The album will include a PSB/Xenomania collabo called “This used to be the future” featuring vocals by Philip Oakey from The Human League, followed by six dub mixes of various tracks on the album.
1. This used to be the future
2. More than a dream (Magical dub)
3. Pandemonium (The stars and the sun dub)
4. The way it used to be (Left of love dub)
5. All over the world (This is a dub)
6. Vulnerable (Public eye dub)
7. Love etc. (Beautiful dub)
I approve, though I can’t help but imagine “This used to be the future” as a robotic, post-modern upgrade to “This Used To Be My Playground.” Is it so wrong to dream anymore?!

And then there’s this, a new report from the Sun.
Gaga‘s gone and done the impossible, usurping the Aloud‘s authority for a duet with the Pet Shop Boys on The BRITs.
According to the article, she will be “sexing-up” the otherwise pleasant, jazz-fueled Dusty Springfield song from 1989, “Nothing Has Been Proved.”
Somewhere, a kitten dies and a teardrop slowly falls from a mother’s eye.
Okay, let’s just think sensibly about this for a moment. I mean, The Boys have obviously cleared her to do the performance, so it can’t be a complete and utter tranny-tacular, can it?
No really, I’m asking, because all I’ve got in my mind right now are visions of Gaga straddling Lowe’s keyboard and licking his face.
The BRITs 2009 will be broadcast live in just two days. Rest assured–the show will still blow The Grammy’s straight out of the water.

Congratulations to Amy T. for winning the MuuMuse Loves Mariah contest! Expect The Ballads at your doorstep any day now.
Hope you simply lurveee the album!
