My Date to The Movies With Madonna: The NYC Premiere of W.E.

Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

There’s been so many video premieres this week…
It’s quite late, and I’m quite tired, but I couldn’t help but post this most gorgeous video from Miss Natasha Khan. Looking a bit like a middle school production of the Big Bang Theory, Ms. Lashes floats, zaps, and glitters her way through a most mystical interpretation of one of the best tracks from her considerably solid second effort, Two Suns. And all while wearing Brandon Flowers‘ hairy shoulder coat.
J’adore.

Oh, boy…I’m about to get in trouble for this one.
If you’re not already following me on Twitter (WHICH YOU SHOULD BE), you’d know that I’ve banded together a crew of Lady GAGa haters, known more affectionately as Team G.A.G.A. (Gays Against Gaga Alliance). We’re kind of like the Tila Army…but a little bit more homosexual.
However, I fear that I must be honest with both myself and my troops. After all, what use would a blogger offer that doesn’t keeps it reals?
This video is, in fact…quite decent. Coupled with the fact that “Paparazzi” is one of the best songs off of The Fame (which, as I will still contend, was one of the Top 10 Albums of ’08), a fun story line (even though the paparazzi plight has been exploited enough by the OG’s of Fame Whorery), and the costumes simply marvelous (aside from the borderline offensive Gimpy Gaga mode), it’s damn near unstoppable.
Sprinkle in a plethora of dead and dangling models to boot? Now that’s something I can truly sink my teeth into.
This is not to say that I think I will ever like Gaga. I just don’t care for her persona, plain and simple. Show me an interview in which she’s even slightly appealing–I defy you. I find she behaves like an oversexed Paris Hilton the night after a bender, except overly courteous and egocentric in the most exaggerated and bloated manner.
Still, she’s pulled it out, and a small part of me is nearly willing to deem her “quite smart.”
So what to do in this slippery situation? I don’t know…keep watching, I guess.

Nina Persson‘s solo project, A Camp, is preparing the release of a digital Covers EP on June 9 on iTunes (June 16 for all other digital outlets), featuring just three tracks:
1. Pink Floyd – Us & Them
2. David Bowie – Boys Keep Swinging
3. Grace Jones – Done It Again
Short but sweet.
I know they’ve been performing “Done It Again” live, and I’m dying to hear it in the studio setting!
Click here to check out the band’s original blog post on MySpace and see their thoughts on all three songs.
A Camp is currently touring, so check out the tour dates here. And finally, click below to hear more from Nina and the boys!
From Britney‘s manager:
@AdamLeber: Day one Radar video shoot..
IT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!!!
Good luck, B!
In honor of the upcoming DVD release of the Sticky & Sweet Tour, Madonna has teamed up with BlackBerry (~capitalist whore~) for a promotion in which customers who purchase a new BlackBerry Bold smartphone qualify for 10 free video clips from the concert.
Luckily, the world’s already got a hold of ‘em.
Okay…perhaps my youth has already faded before I’ve even reached the legal age to drink, but I literally cannot watch this! What the FUCK is going on with the editing for this tour?! It goes too fast!
I know this world’s attention span’s whittled down to nearly nothing now, but I can barely grasp what’s going on before the scene shoots to another shot. Surely we can still appreciate at least three seconds of Madonna in still frame!
Here’s another, the video montage of “Die Another Day” that I loved in person, now LITERALLY UNWATCHABLE WITHOUT VOMITING.
UGH! Still holding out hope for the best ones: “Human Nature,” “She’s Not Me,” and “Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You.”
filed under: Crystal Castles, Esser, Frankmusik, Hedi Slimane, Kaiser Chiefs, Kylie Minogue, Lexxx, Sugababes
Once upon a time, Esser concocted “catchy electronic pop songs” in his bedroom with no label or management. Then, the labels started swooping in, the Kaiser Chiefs had him come out on tour, Hedi Slimane took some nice pictures of him (see above), and a debut album produced by Lexxx (Crystal Castles) titled Braveface came out with his face on it.
My facts may be slightly out of order, but you get the point.
Anyway, Essy (as I heretofore shall dub him) is attempting to break into America (just like that other one, Kylie Minogue.) The first single from Braveface is called “I Love You,” and will be released in limited edition, 300 press vinyl format. The song is excellent, and the video entirely unexpected.
According to my early analysis, the boy seems both clever, exciting, and fresh, though perhaps nothing has swayed me quite so much as this one quote:
“There are always certain things that I find interesting within songs. ‘About You Now’ by the Sugababes was really great. It was all chorus – brilliant.”
Sold.
Frankmusik–I believe someone’s about to give you a run for your DIY-pop money.
Lo and behold, the video for Patrick Wolf‘s second single off of The Bachelor has arrived! Click here if you cannot see it below.
It’s sort of like if Sia‘s “Soon We’ll Be Found” and MEG‘s “Precious” (greatest video in the history of modern film) had a rendezvous at sunset with Kylie Minogue‘s “The One” and put a few lampshades on some dancer’s heads.
BRILLIANT. Love it!
P.S. Congratulations on your music video debut, Michael!
It’s been hours, and still nothing has helped to lift my Prop H8 frowny face. I’ve already told typed off one or two of the more unfortunate souls daring to defend the court’s decision…WHO ELSE WANT SOME?!
It seems no better time to pull out the big guns…
