I think as soon as Wendy Williams exclaimed “And you’re only 19!” was when it hit me like a truck: This child is a CHILD! Damn, she’s young. And yes Wendy, she certainly has developed some baby makin’ hips. (JJS, this is for you!)

As we all well know in the pop world, Ryan Tedder pulled a fast one on Kelly Clarkson when he pretty much produced the same song twice for two different popular artists (Clarkson’s “Already Gone” and Beyonce‘s “Halo.”)

Well now Kelly’s chosen to speak up about it…loudly:

“Ryan and I met each other at the record label, before he was working with anyone else,” Clarkson begins, gritting her teeth. “He’s from Oklahoma, I’m from Texas; we got along really well and had some of the same influences. We wrote about six songs together, four or five of them made the album. It was all fine and dandy. I’d never heard of a song called Halo. Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No-one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’”

The palpably frustrated Clarkson claims she “fought and fought” to try and prevent her label from releasing Already Gone as her third single, out of respect for Beyonce.

“In the end, they’re releasing it without my consent,” she sighs. “It sucks, but it’s one of those things I have no control over. I already made my album. At this point, the record company can do whatever they want with it. It’s kind of a shitty situation, but.… You know, you learn.”

So to the impassioned fans still fighting to convince everyone that “Already Gone” sounds nothing at all like “Halo,” congratulations–even the artist you’re defending doesn’t believe you.

The fact is that Kelly Clarkson must do what I’ve been dying for her to do all along: Break away. (PUN!) Break far, far away from the label. Go out into the wilderness! Mess your hair up! Make songs that suck! Make songs that are ten times more powerful than anything we’d hear delivered on the radio! The mainstream route is clearly not working for you anymore, Clarkson.

It’s time to earn your cred.

I get what they were ‘going for,’ but it still took me three tries just to get through the damn thing.

Frankly I’m beginning to wonder if Boots can legitimately carry herself as a proper entertainer…sorry.

The video for the Dolly Rockers‘ debut single “Gold Digger” is upon us.

Splendorous, nay? They are literally buckets of fun. My favorite scene’s got to be the office invasion, including the moment Sophie takes matters into her own hands and starts chatting into the phone about the blasted Gold Digger.

“Gold Digger” is due for release on August 31.

Anyway, here’s the long-awaited video for BoA‘s new single, “Energetic.”

Things that it is:
- Flashy.
- Colorful.
- Glossy.

Things that it is not:
- Energetic.

I love BoA, but what’s going on in this video? Far too many jump cuts, and not enough substance. Honestly, she’s one of the most talented dancers in the music industry (“I Did It For Love,” “BAD DRIVE” anyone?), so why not continue to drive that fact? This left me feeling a bit…stale.

It’s okay bb, I still love you. You still looked fierce and fresh to death regardless!

I went to Atlanta last year and recorded “I Did It For Love” with Sean Garrett [the man behind hits for Beyonce, Usher, Ciara, and Chris Brown] and one more song is coming out for my repackaged album released in September — it’s the same as the first album but with added new songs. I also have one with Flo Rida, he was featured in my “Eat You Up” song.

I’m excited…I don’t really care how or when, I just want MORE. (MOAH?!)

Tata Young is an incredibly popular, incredibly talented Thai singer who’s spent almost twenty years dominating her homeland. In her spare time, she also enjoys trying to break into the North America market to no avail (oh hay, Hikki and BoA). Thanks to a tip from my BFF JJS at It’s The Money Shot!, I’ve learned that Tata’s trying all over again this year. Perhaps a third time’s a charm?

I was first introduced to Tata in 2006 during my then-beginning-to-wane obsession with all things J and K-Pop. Stumbling upon a little ditty called “Sexy Naughty Bitchy,” a ‘female empowerment’ number of sorts that managed to work its way up the Japanese Oricon Top 10 (the equivalent of the Billboard Charts), I knew I’d found what I was looking for. Yes, the song is as good-bad as the title implies and yes, you can sing along to it with the help of karaoke.

Then came Temperature Rising later that year, a deeply underappreciated and slightly misguided English attempt to break into North American turf for the second time in her career. The album was truly a lot of fun, and still merits play today, including gems like “Back Outta This,” “Uh Oh,” and “Zoom,” (which was later covered by Disney bot Ashley Tisdale). Of course, the greatest of the bunch was the lead single “El-Nin-YO!”, which was sort of like a Holly Valance-meets-Hilary Duff crossover track. I mean sure, Tata was chastised for her newfound image (as evidenced within the somewhat racy strip-off-and-spray-down concept behind the video) but isn’t that just what we love here in America?! INJUSTICE.

Coming forward to 2009, I’ve discovered that Tata is set to release her third English studio album, Ready For Love, which shares the name of the lead track off of the record. It’s a little awkward, and I still don’t see her going anywhere with this, but it’s not bad. In fact, it’s kind of like a track I’d want Whitney Houston to launch with for the comeback.

Look, I don’t really give a shit what works. All I know is that the fucking Wonder Girls cannot be the first Asian act to break the American market. CANNOT. BE.
