Good morning, Muusers!

dollyrockersgolddigger 300x300 Must Buy Monday: Choice Releases for August 31

Don’t forget, today is the official release of the Dolly Rockers‘ debut single, “Gold Digger.” Let’s make the Dolly’s first outing onto the charts matter, yes? Maybe we can all celebrate by having a massive dance-off with our headphones on at the same time around the world.

If you’re checking in late to the game, check out the interview I did with the Sophie back in June for starters.

Also out today is a surprise release (for me, at least)–the deluxe edition of BoA‘s self-titled US debut! It’s not out in physical form for a few weeks, but you can snag it now on iTunes for the three new bonus tracks: The radio edit of “Energetic,” “Crazy About,” and “Control.” Support your favorite K-Pop crossover artist!

As with the Dollys, check out my interview with BoA if you’re not in the know. It’s completely worth it!

Sweet 7, according to Amazon.

I’m reserving judgment until we hear the music. It can go either way: If Sweet 7 is a good album, we’ll have this rare jewel no one’s really heard of as with Vanity 6. If it’s bad, I’ll probably end up citing the album name as yet another reason the album sucks.

As they say in Estonia, “we shall see.”

34213735 Forever is Over, but Not Forgotten.

On this breezy Friday afternoon, I find myself pondering The Saturdays.

I have, on many occasions, expressed my hesitance to embrace ‘the Satz.’ From what I’ve seen, I’m not impressed: They’re not nearly as chic as the Aloud, soulful as the Sugababes, or exuberant as the almighty Spice.

Above all however is the music factor, and that’s where the Satz have just scored.

Giving a quick look-over at my iPod’s most played tracks, it appears that I do–at least musically speaking–enjoy me some Saturdays. “Forever is Over” has weaseled its way into my daily playlist rather quickly and unexpectedly, and shows no real sign of stopping. Even if that bridge is a bit tragic, the delicious chorus is simply worth it time and time again.

So Satz…today, we salute you fine ladies of five. May this new single/sound/direction push you to produce an incredible follow-up album later this year, only to guide yourselves into the loving bosoms of a million and one adoring fans/gays. Oh, and the A-list of Radio One.

mc elle0807 225x300 Mariah Carey: I Want To Know What Love Is (Single Review)

Oh, haven’t you heard? Mariah Carey is about to release a new single. Let’s discuss:

+ It is a cover of Foreigner‘s “I Want To Know What Love Is,” which basically means you’re going to have your fair share of “The original is better!!!” comments on your local forums and YouTube videos.

+ It is very slow and controlled.

+ Whereas “Obsessed” was good in the sense of it’s-so-bad-it’s-good, “I Want To Know What Love Is” is good in the sense of “Hey, this sounds like a legitimate Mariah Carey ballad.”

+ It features some signature whistle notes (which, I might add, I always want to call ‘whale notes’ for no apparent reason, which sounds absolutely ludicrous in conversation.)

+ There is a choir section to remind us all when it’s time to get epic.

+ It is generally very good.

Overall, I approve.

So is Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel actually going to be something worth stealing/streaming/downloading/purchasing in your local CD shop? Eh…maybe.

filed under: Kylie Minogue

Thanks to We Are Pop Slags for tracking down the clip, we’ve got a sneak peek at Kylie Minogue’s turn as a chanteuse in the upcoming Bollywood flick, Blue.

Now, I’m not going to be too hard on Mizz Minogue for this one–after all, this a song created for the strange world of Bollywood, a place where stars can gleefully dance about on-screen to songs about getting “chiggy wiggy with you” and then face a warrant for their arrest after kissing in public.

But really, it’s all just a little too weird. Her performance is–at best–a briefly awkward, B-grade ‘urban’ reinterpretation of Moulin Rouge, and the dog-panting dance moves are simply tragic. And that’s not even the start of it–I mean, the back-up dancers! At least this proves that Kylie’s always got her homo squadron n tow at all times…even in India.

She does look good, though…sort of like a 2009 update on “In Your Eyes.”

If you don’t think this song is up to snuff, just remember…there can always be worse out there.

Here now is a teaser clip of the sweet new clip that Madonna‘s about to ‘drop’ on September 1.

The video doesn’t seem to give away much of the ‘plot,’ aside from some background dancers pumping up and down next to a DJ booth fronted by professional eye candy man-boy, Jesus Luz.

But wait, there’s more–watch as Luz seductively side-glances behind the DJ booth to find–SWEET JESUS LUZ. It’s Paul “Rape Me Eyes” Oakenfold in a vintage Madge tee, either acting ironically terrible at dancing or simply displaying that he is actually terrible at dancing for TWO TO THREE. ENTIRE. UNGODLY. SECONDS.

AHHH! Who decided this was a good idea?!

Either way, it is LITERALLY THE MOST FRIGHTENING MOMENT IN RECENT POP MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY. Don’t you feel a bit dirty just after seeing that? I’m almost a bit nervous about watching the video in full next week.

lolene 199x300 Introduucing...Lolene!

Artist: Lolene
Where you from, lady? Bristol, UK.
What the mini-biography says: “Coining the term, ‘awkward pop,’ Lolene describes her sound as ‘Joan Collins in Dynasty, Studio 54, white jump-suits, and disco balls.’”
What it actually means: She makes modern electro-pop music.
Claim to Fame: Songwriter; wrote for Andreas Carlsson, Danja, and the song “Diamonds” for Christian Milian and Kanye West.

Choice single: “Sexy People.”
Choice lyric: “Sexy bitches, we rule the world!”
What it sounds like: Paris Hilton singing on top of a Britney Spears track infused with Lady Gaga‘s hermie-penis testosterone.

It’s tentative and all, but is this–dare I say it–England’s proper response to the Gaga?

You decide: Stream “Sexy People” in high quality RIGHT NOW.

Let me know what you think!
