The Ryan Tedder Complex: Alexandra Burke and Utada Share Christmas Sounds with Stargate.

Remember that whole debacle with Kelly Clarkson‘s “Already Gone” and Beyonce‘s “Halo” sounding the same, courtesy of producer Ryan Tedder?

Behold–it’s the B-side to Alexandra Burke‘s “Broken Heels,” “Fear of Flying.”

Sound familiar, Utada fans? That’s because the song, which was also produced by Stargate, uses the same sample as “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence – FYI.”

Same sample, same producer. Granted, one’s just a B-side, and the other remains an album track only, but still…what gives?

PS: Just to clarify, Utada’s track is miles better. Just saying.

come to think of it, they aren’t similar at all except for the sample .___.

I was little scared when I read the entry, but when I listened to Alexandra’s track it was distinctively different that Utada’s. Utada’s has more pop and flavor : )

Yeah, definitely. The nice thing is that the songs themselves are completely different.

My issue was more with the fact that Stargate decided to use the same melody/sample in two different songs released in the same year. It’s quite a distinctive sample, so it’s a bit odd on his part to do that.

    I like the Utada song!

Ahh, seems like Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is getting a lot of coverage this year; runner up of Britain’s Got Talent, Faryl Smith, used it for one of her songs too. Oh well, gorgeous melody, no complaints here! Is strange how Stargate used it for both though.

Utada’s song is way more refreshing than alexandra’s…
if they ran out of melodies, they should contact some internet kids at YT with new beats =P

Alexandra Burke’s song is amazing! i just love the beat with her voice! Utada’s version is also nice.. but for me there is no comparing Alexandra’s version is simply outstanding!
