Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

Last week, I interviewed Nadia Ali about her upcoming collaborations–and now, we can hear one of her latest!
This is the just-released video for Ali’s collaboration with German electronic artist, Schiller, “Try.”
Like the song (which has only been unveiled in full with the release of this video), it’s a light and gorgeous affair, full of bright colors and smoke. Nadia looks gorgeous, and the dancers add a nice touch of drama to the otherwise uncomplicated affair.
As for the song, “Try” is absolutely haunting–a fabulous work of sad disco, ready to be put on repeat time and time again. I love!
“Try” is the first single off of Schiller’s upcoming album Atemlos, and will be released on March 12.

While passing through the PopJustice forums, I stumbled upon a post mentioning the Toronto-based band, Parallels. While I didn’t (and admittedly, still don’t) know much about the group at the time, I now know this: their debut is amazing.
Visionaries, the band’s debut album released on February 6, brings to mind a potpourri of influences: Sally Shapiro, Belinda Carlisle, The Knife, Cat5, New Order and Cut Copy, among others. Not a bad set of sounds to come to mind, is it?
For fans of italo-disco, crystal synthesizers, and chilly grooves inspired by the dance floor sounds of yesterday, I believe you’ll find in Visionaries a truly unexpected delight.

STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING.
Wynter Gordon is FINALLY releasing her music!
“Dirty Talk” is Gordon’s official debut single from her upcoming album. The song is Madonna‘s “Celebration” done once better, jam-packed with rave-happy synthesizers, an unstoppable middle eight section, and straight-up sexy speak. Literally, the verses are just a procession of nouns that are naughty and/or dirty. It’s BRILLIANT.
I’ve been listening to this song non-stop for weeks!
The song will be accompanied by remixes from Laidback Luke, Kim Fai, and Hagenaar & Albrech very soon.
Click here to hear the song streaming at her website, and make sure to purchase it legally!
I WANT TO DO SOME DIRTY THINGS TO YOU TONIGHT.
Like a gift from the riot grrrl goddesses in the sky, a new interview with Kathleen Hanna has arrived at my e-doorstep. Given that I’m in the middle of heavily researching things like zines and the riot grrrl movement for a final project at university that explores alternative culture, I can only assume that this was a warm pat on the back from someone looking down on me.
This interview itself is grrreat, complete with recollections from the times of Bikini Kill, to contemporary band culture, to Le Tigre, to Miley Cyrus, to blogging and all the way back again. All good stuff. Enjoy!
Did you hear? MuuMuse is going to be speaking with Little Boots on Friday! If you’ve got a burning question you’d love for me to ask her during our chat, leave it in the comments section or tweet it to me–I’d be more than happy to do so!
In the meantime, please enjoy this fantastic new widget from Boots and Co., complete with six exclusive remixes (I adore them all, especially the “Tune Into My Heart” mix by GRVRBBRS and the “Earthquake” Clap Mike Amour mix), tour information, videos, tweets and other neat stuff. Fun times!

Nadia Ali is one of the greatest natural voices on the dance floor scene.
Formerly of Iio (“Rapture”, “Is It Love?), the singer has since embarked on her own successful career as a solo artist. After a series of songs recorded with artists including Rosko and Armin van Buuren, Ali finally unveiled her long-awaited debut album Embers in September of 2009.
A stunning collection of heavenly trance music and ambient sound, the album showcases both Ali’s unique vocal delivery and her knack for scribing deeply personal, sophisticated electronica, proving why she’s since become such an overwhelmingly admired, oft-requested collaborator for producers and artists alike.
Last Friday, I had the honor of speaking to Nadia as she prepared for a trip to Brazil. She was amazingly kind and as sweet as expected, and she provided a lot of thoughtful, in-depth responses to my questions. Instead of drafting up a short feature, I thought her fans would instead appreciate the full-on Q&A. Below is the entire transcript. I hope you all enjoy!
It’s time to get transitive up in this bitch.
I love Kaskade. Kaskade is a member of Late Night Alumni. Therefore, I love me some Late Night Alumni.
But Kaskade or otherwise, I’ve always adored this group. Composed of lead singer Becky Jean Williams, Finn Bjarnson, John Hancock, and Ryan Raddon (Kaskade), Late Night Alumni is a stunning dreamy dance-pop outfit responsible for some the lushest, heaven-sent soundscapes I’ve ever heard (as well as the soundtrack to countless makeup tutorials by Michelle Phan–love her so hard!)
The group’s latest album, Of Birds, Bees, Butterflies, etc., was released digitally in November of last year. However, the physical release just happened on February 2.
To celebrate the album’s physical release, MuuMuse is proud to be giving away TWO COPIES of the album. To win, send a blank e-mail to muumuse@gmail.com with the subject line “ALUMNI,” or send a tweet my way with the phrase “I want to stay up with @muumuse listening to Late Night Alumni!” Two random winners will be selected at 12 p.m. EST on February 24.
And now, enjoy–this is the sound of something beautiful.

More photographs from the 2010 Candies campaign have arrived, courtesy of a superstar cast of photographers: Annie Leibovitz, Terry Richardson, and Mark Seliger. The whole set can be seen at Candies. If you sign up, you can watch some delicious videos (she’s posing to “La Isla Bonita” and “Everybody” in the first!) and check out more pictures.
I am absolutely dying over these, especially the teddy bear shot. It’s like the grown-up sequel to the 1999 Rolling Stone cover!
