Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

HOLY FIERCE, BATMAN.
Special delivery! This clip was just sent in to premiere excluusively at MuuMuse.
Click the video above to see Kelly Rowland premiering her soon-to-be hit single, “Commander” in front of a jam-packed club at the Winter Music Conference in Miami with David Guetta.
While it may not have been a live performance vocally, bitch was still delivering a fierce-to-death performance. She’s absolutely killing it! God, I wish I were there.
HATERS TO THE LEFT, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
This week has had its ups and downs prior to the release of this video–a bad promo picture, a good one, and back again, with some on-again, off-again, titillating video teasers.
Now, the full product is here. And the final verdict?
I love it.
Everything about this video is sharp, cutting and vibrant–the lighting, the colors, the dancing, etc. Actually, I don’t know that Aguilera’s dancing has ever been more on point than in this moment. If it has, we certainly haven’t seen it that strong since the Dirrty days.
Could it be called ‘too raunchy’? Possibly, but I think the singer did a good job of commanding her sexuality rather than using it as a tool. The “Can’t Hold Us Down” mantra–(“The guy gets all the glory the more he can score / While the girl can do the same and yet you call her a whore”)–still holds here, and I love the confidence she’s projecting.
As for the Gaga comparisons? Please. If she’s jackin’ anyone’s swagga, it’s Madonna, but I still don’t believe that’s what’s happening here. Instead, I see very obvious references to “Express Yourself,” “Erotica,” and “Human Nature” (basically all of Madge’s ‘bad girl’ era of the early nineties), but I find them to be well-intended homages, not attempts to swipe anyone’s style.
While the promo photos that surfaced all looked a bit desperate, I can honestly say that this video feels like a ‘moment,’ or at least another solid milestone in Aguilera’s career.
All in all, I wholeheartedly approve. Now go and work this single out, mama.
I couldn’t have said it any better. Thank you, Chris Crocker.

I like when ideas sound as good on paper as they do on my speakers. This is one of those times.
Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers and noted Pet Shop Boys enthusiast, is working on his debut solo album, entitled Flamingo. Today, the singer uploaded a snippet of his work onto his official website here.
What we’re hearing is much more electronica focused than his work with The Killers (yay!), more pensive and ambient (yay!), and entirely worthy of high expectations.
I cannot wait to hear what’s next.
Okay, honestly Christina? GET IT THE FUCK TOGETHER.
This literally looks like a photoshoot meant for the back cover of a “Lipstick Lesbians” porn DVD. Not that I’ve ever seen anything like that before.
The video for “Not Myself Tonight” will premiere at midnight tonight on Vevo.
And here’s how “Bittersweet” sounds when sung live on national television.
I’m surprised by how well Sophie Ellis-Bextor pulls off the vocals for this one, as I would have thought it’d be a much harder song to sing live–especially early in the morning. She’s still an icy disco queen when she performs though, isn’t she? Love it.
“Bittersweet” will be released digitally in the UK on May 2 and in various physical formats on May 3. I think I might snatch the 7″ picture disc, personally!
filed under: Cheryl Cole, Esmèe Denters, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Video Premiere, Will.I.Am
Justin Timberlake is back on my radar (on my ray-duh).
This time however, he’s here to try and propel his latest protégé, YouTube sensation Esmée Denters, back into the spotlight once again.
For those who might not remember, Timberlake first signed the Dutch singer onto his label, Tennman Records, back in 2008. After recording with Timberlake and a host of other producers, Denters released her debut album, Outta Here, in Europe during the summer of 2009.
Unfortunately, her debut album didn’t achieve too much traction across the world (aside from her home country, hitting #5 on the charts)–but hey…persistence is a virtue, right? Or something like that.
The track is a light, refreshing electro jam, mercifully free from much of the Timberlake/Timbaland bells and whistles that began to clutter the radio during their 2006 to 2008 reign. (This may mostly have to do with the fact that the track was co-produced by the incredible Stargate.)
The song’s accompanying video, which was just released today, strikes me as an American take on the Cheryl Cole/Will.I.Am collaborations going on overseas right now with the whole pretty singer, annoying producer dynamic going on. It’s cute, simple…I like it, generally.
While I don’t know if this song will lift off in the States (though it ought to), I’m rooting for it nonetheless.
“Love Dealer” is the third single from Outta Here, and will be released on iTunes on May 4. Her debut album will be released later this summer in the US on Interscope Records.
