Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

MuuMuse Approved Tracks for the Week of April 25, 2010
5. The Runaways – Cherry Bomb
Saw the biopic on Wednesday. It wasn’t very good (aside from Dakota Fanning’s spot-on performance), but I’ll be damned if I haven’t been blasting this ever since.
4. Robyn – Cry When You Get Older
Layered electronica and complex rhythms. The dancehall queen takes it to another level yet again.
3. Lolene – Rich (Fake It ‘Til You Make It)
My life’s mantra at the moment.
2. Robyn – Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do
This song is killing me. Is it all about the song title? Yes…yes it is.
1. Diana Vickers – Once
The song is not a new addition to my playlists by any means. I am just too proud of this chick for officially hitting #1 on the UK Single Charts today. Congrats, Diana! Totally deserved. Album review coming this week.
Kylie Minogue, shot by David Slijper for the June 2010 issue of UK Elle. It should be noted that this is the subscriber’s edition, and not the cover that will be displayed on newsstands.
Nonetheless, for Elle? It’s pretty damn artsy/risky/vaguely disappointing.
Or maybe it’s genius. I go back and forth on the issue.
Warning: This post may or may not have been inspired by the fact that I’m still riding high off of just having seen The Runaways. CH-CH-CHERRY BOMBBBB.
In between her shoot schedule on the set of Gossip Girl, 16-year-old Taylor Momsen has been hard at work recording with her band, The Pretty Reckless.
Below is the group’s debut single, “Make Me Wanna Die,” which was released on the soundtrack to Kick-Ass.
Honestly, it’s not half bad. Momsen’s got a much deeper voice than I anticipated, and yes, she can actually carry a tune. I like the gruff styling–think Kimberly Caldwell, or perhaps a degree of Pink.
You can also watch a video behind-the-scenes of the track’s recording right here. God, she loves that eyeliner. I do too!

As you well know by now, MuuMuse is big on the RiRi.
Above is the official Rihanna tour widget, containing news, videos, and tweets. Keep checking it for updates as the tour progresses! (Although it doesn’t have this.)
The singer is currently touring Europe for her Last Girl on Earth Tour, of which the videos are absolutely killing me. I mean…“Rude Boy” live. And the dancers-on-robot-stilts for “Disturbia.” And “Rockstar 101,” in which she goes full-on Jones to the Rhythm.
But the greatest moment may be “Shut Up and Drive.” (Trying to keep the spoilers at a minimum here…)
Incredible. I can’t wait until she comes ’round these parts!
Earlier this morning, Agnes performed “Release Me” on The Wendy Williams Show, which you can now watch right here. As usual, her voice was flawless, she looked impossibly perfect, etc. etc. etc. WHY ISN’T THIS PLAYING ON HOT 100 RADIO YET?
To help celebrate its release, MuuMuse is proud to be giving away EIGHT SIGNED COPIES of Agnes’ first major single in America, “Release Me.” To enter to win, send me an e-mail with the subject line “AGNES” or tweet me with the following phrase: “I want @muumuse to RELEASE ME!”
The winners will be selected and notified on Thursday, April 29 at 12 p.m. EST.
Good luck!
As I tweeted, it bears repeating:
Body Talk Pt. 1 is the definition
of “that next level ish.”
Plus, check out the official cover above courtesy of muuser Aerosolde.
The first part of the three Body Talk EPs will be released on June 15.
The video for Ciara‘s latest single, “Ride,” has arrived. The results? I’m not quite sure.
While I do love the actual song, I can’t help but feel a bit let down with this minimalist, oddly paced video. Blame it on my problematic relationship with anything directed by Diane Martel (Britney‘s “3,” the American version of BoA‘s “Eat You Up”), but I’m still not a fan of the director’s penchant for videos that revolve around awkward jump scenes, zero plot, and dull lighting.
Yes, I get it–it showcases her ‘stripped down’ dance moves. So what? She can do better, and with a video that didn’t share any similarities to Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies.”
I mean, you really can’t compare this to her best works to date. “Get Up”? “Work”? “Go Girl”?
Hardly in the same league.
