Daily B: Where Are You Now? A Britney Appreciation Post

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Britney appreciation post. Let’s, yes?

As most true Brit fans know, Britney Spears does have a voice. Any argument otherwise is simply absurd.

While I’ve got a lot of ‘moments’ I like to pick out in order to demonstrate her powerhouse potential, one of the songs I always return to is the greatly underrated “Where Are You Now,” the power ballad off of Oops…I Did It Again written by Max Martin and Andreas Carlsson.

The entire song is wow-worthy, but it’s the 3-minute mark that truly takes the cake and raises the bar for the entire album. Insane.

As far as her musical chops, check out the above moment at the piano with Quddus (remember when you watched MTV?) in promotion of In The Zone in 2003. After fooling around a bit and playing “Chopsticks” with the VJ, Britney plays a riff that–as far as I know–has gone unrecorded as an actual song. It’s beautiful though, and deserves loads of love.

Well, there you have it. Just passing time until the seventh studio album is in our hands…which is bound to dominate.
