And in today’s music news from the New York Times: No one buys albums. Everyone buys or streams singles, so if you’re an artist with an album to sell, you better have a “Tik Tok” on your hands.

However, the article does note that while singles are becoming increasingly pivotal for an artist’s success (see the chart above), snatching that top spot on the Albums chart is still a desirable feat for full impact. (Duh.)
