Single2 03 Utada Hikaru Says: Dont Buy My English Greatest Hits Album!

Utada Hikaru has just posted a new message on her Twitter urging her fans not to buy the recently announced English greatest hits album, Utada The Best, stating:

The release of “Utada the best” is entirely against my will. I wish that my fans won’t have to buy it. There’s no new material in it.

She then went on to say (in Japanese, translated):

Single Collection Vol. 2 is a release that’s filled with my sincerity. I plan to make a more detailed comment about Utada The Best in the days to come. But pre-orders have already started… I wrote what I did because I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Good night for tonight!

Everything about the release of Utada the Best looked and felt like a way to cash in on Single Collection Vol. 2‘s upcoming release. I bet daddy’s going to be pissed.

Go Utada for keeping it real!

Alesha Dixon has just uploaded her new single onto YouTube and…

The beat is exactly the same as Robyn‘s “Dancing On My Own.” Like, literally.

I mean, I guess it’s alright (mostly because the melody is completely different), but that opening synthesizer line will never be dissociated from Robyn’s original masterpiece in my mind.

Oh yeah, and the actual song is like a cross between a slower version of The Sugababes‘ “About You Now” and something boring.

Let’s stop going the route we’re going and bring back the “Lipstick,” Dixxy darling!

Screen shot 2010 10 23 at 9.06.45 PM1 Pheonix Rising: Watch Kanye Wests Full Length Film, Runaway

Above is Kanye West‘s 34-minute film “Runaway,” featuring an opening monologue delivered by Nicki Minaj and several new songs including “Power” and “All Of The Lights” (featuring Rihanna), as well as an absolutely stunning re-staging of his 2010 VMA performance of “Runaway.”

Love him or hate him (as Kanye never was one to garner moderate opinions), “Runaway” will go down as yet another display of the artist’s ability to innovate and re-frame hip-hop music.

Watch this immediately.

x factor logo Speaking of Guilty Pleasures: A Very Thorough X Factor Performance Night Review (October 23)

Get your tits out, everyone–it’s time for another round-up of the X Factor performances!

This week’s theme was “Guilty Pleasures,” which is basically a completely subjective, completely bullshit category that resulted in the judges inevitably squabbling over what defines a guilty pleasure and why certain artists were considered “guilty” in the first place. What a hoot.

More importantly, Cher Lloyd was officially AMAZING. Read on!

4. You Make Me Want To Be A Man
5. This One (Crying Like A Child)
6. Exodus ’04
7. Apple And Cinnamon
8. Automatic Part II
9. Devil Inside
10. Kremlin Dusk
11. Sanctuary opening
12. Sanctuary ending

14. Devil Inside (RJD2 Remix)
15. Come Back To Me (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Radio Edit)
16. Dirty Desire (Mike Rizzo Radio Edit)

NOTE: There was also some dodgy artwork on the Tower website this morning, but it has since been taken down (likely just a temporary spot-holder).

Let us all pray this isn’t some kind of ‘last hurrah’ before she’s released from Island Def Jam–I literally live and breathe for her English work! I blame Kuma-Chan.

Thanks as always to U Blog for the original scoop.

Utada The Best will be released on November 24. (iTunes)

My name is Natalia Kills. Tonight, you are all getting killed.

On Wednesday night, Cherrytree Records’ Natalia Kills headlined the PopJustice/High Rise CMJ showcase at The Bell House in Brooklyn.

For faithful Muusers, it’s no secret I’ve always had a soft spot for Miss Kills. She kind of embodies everything I love in film, fashion and music: Dark, macabre style, carnal sexuality, and of course…killer beats.

But taking my own personal taste of the equation (which is sort of silly as this is a review, I digress), it’s clear to see that noise is starting to quickly build around Natalia’s name amongst trendy art magazines and music blogs across the globe, and she proved exactly why tonight.

kylie minogue 1 Kylie Minogue Assists Taio Cruz on Rokstarr Track, Higher

From gutter sluts to disco divas, Taio Cruz has certainly had his fair share of help from the lady pop landscape lately.

After the relative success of his Ke$ha-assisted ode to sexting (“Dirty Picture,” my personal life anthem of the mo’), Cruz has unveiled a re-rub of his album track “Higher” featuring the mighty Aphrodite herself, Kylie Minogue.

It’s…you know, pretty good. ‘Modern sounding.’ Radio-friendly R&B dance-pop. ‘A banger.’ She sounds a bit like a robot, but a sexy one.

According to Idolator (who then say according to We Are Pop Slags), the mix will lead off the Rokstarr re-release in the Australian market. Sounds right.

This is all very well and good, but I’m still not over the injustice that is the #12 UK Singles Chart peak of one of the greatest singles of 2010, “Get Outta My Way.” STILL VERY MUCH NOT OVER IT.

Rokstarr was released in June in the US. (iTunes)
