FINALLY!

After teasing us for weeks, The Saturdays have just premiered the video for their brand new single, “Notorious”!

The video finds the five foxy ladies working their stilettos up the corporate ladder (err, elevator)–from a humdrum office job (stamping papers is, like, totes the boring-est, except when the stamps are AMAZING) to an all out dance party at the top of the building. My God, where do I apply?!

Amazing video. Amazing song. I’d argue that this is one of the best things The Saturdays have done…ever!

Consider this one MuuMuse Approved. Nice one, Sats!

“Notorious” will be released on May 22. (Preorder on iTunes UK)

It’s official! This is your FIRST LOOK at the cover for Beyoncé‘s upcoming fourth studio album 4, due to be released on June 28.

For the full details, check out this brand new press release courtesy of Sony Music Global:

BEYONCÉ’S NEW ALBUM “4” TO BE RELEASED ON TUESDAY, JUNE 28 (US; International dates on or around this date)

(New York, NY; Columbia Records; Wednesday, May 18, 2011) –Columbia Records will release “4,” the fourth solo studio album from Beyoncé on Tuesday, June, 28, 2011.

The album was recorded over a year between the spring of 2009 and the spring of 2010, while Beyoncé took time away from the spotlight. She engaged in what she describes as simple things, including listening to every kind of music she truly enjoys. Her mixed musical gumbo will be displayed on the upcoming album.

The title signifies not only the artist’s fourth solo offering and the day of her birth but it is also a personal gift to her fans. For over one year now her fans around the world took to their social media pages urging her to name the album for her special number.

GAWWWGEOUS!

The cover is giving me pure 2003 Body Language-era Kylieespecially this photo. L-O-V-E IT!

The revolution begins now.

From the mere behind-the-scenes photos alone that surfaced last month, the Francis Lawrence-directed clip for Beyoncé’s “Run The World (Girls)” already promised to be epic.

Then came the trailers, which–in hindsight–promised something much different thematically: There was revolution, combat, drama. But as it turns out, the clip for Bey’s latest single boils down to one massive dance session (well, plus some hyenas).

Taking a cue from the winning steady-shot camera technique of her I Am…Sasha Fierce videography (“Single Ladies,” “Diva,” “Ego”), the video for “Run The World” allows the bootylicious beauty to pop, flaunt and shimmy her assets like no one’s business. And my God, she does: THE MOVES! The fierceness! The confidence! Those shoulder seizures! It’s everything and more.

And while some naysayers (I believe the scientific term is “haters”) may try to pass off the video as a more high-budget regurgitation of the same concept, I would honestly disagree. This feels like an evolution of the concept–and more importantly, a bold way for Beyoncé to put her foot (stiletto) down in an increasingly competitive pop playing field and stake her claim. Without the flashy, split-second editing found in most pop videos today, “Run The World (Girls)” allows us to watch Bey work out full dance routines in a (seemingly) single shot, as if to say to her fellow pop contemporaries: “Follow this, you bitches.”

And then there’s everything else: The couture. The revolutionary miscellanea. The lighting. All of it…it’s just perfect! Oh, and so there’s no confusion: Beyoncé looks stunning. Absolutely GORGEOUS! My God! Has she ever looked more beautiful? Has she? I think not.

SLAYED. Who run the world?

Last Friday night (oh hay, accidental Katy Perry reference!), my arch frenemy Jon (of Ali’s Blog) and I ventured down to District 36 in NYC to catch one of our favorite rising pop stars-to-be, Jessie And The Toy Boys, performing in honor of the 2-year anniversary of club night, Rockit.

At around 2 AM, Jon and I scoped out a safe vantage point somewhere in between a few shirtless men and Janice Dickinson‘s breasts. Jessie took to the stage with her two beautiful back-up boys to perform a 3-song set, including her debut single “Push It” (which you can watch over at Ali’s Blog) and “Valentine.” (See above!)

I’d never seen Ms. Malakouti perform live previously–what a sweet surprise it turned out to be! Given the fact that lady friend was working it out on a stage roughly the size of me (LAYING DOWN, laying down…I’m not that wide, fuck off), she certainly turned it out like she was playing the Garden. Fierce choreography, dynamite energy–it was a performance reminiscent of Gaga‘s early 2008 stints when she was shoved up against a subwoofer in a dingy gay bar with her disco stick. (Not that she doesn’t still do those kinds of performances, but still.)

Jessie’s set was absolutely magnetic, and if this is any indication of what she’s bringing to the stage when she comes to open the Femme Fatale Tour later this summer with Britney, there’s no way we’re going to stop dancing ’til the world ends.

Thanks to Jon for providing the video, and thanks to Jessie for a fabulous night out!

“Push It” and “Valentine” were released on February 14. (iTunes)

Madonna 39 Remixed and Revisited: Six Madonna Remixes I Just Really Like

Earlier today, I added an impossible question to this month’s MuuPoll: “What’s your favorite Madonna record?”

I know, I know. Sophie’s Choice. Nonetheless, the question sparked an excellent Twitter debate, comparing and contrasting all of Madge’s iconic records, which quickly led into an all-day Madonnathon on my iPod. (To be fair, this happens roughly every week.)

Taking my love a step further, I wanted to post a random smattering of six Madonna remixes that I absolutely adore (or cherish, if you will). I don’t think there’s any real surprises for hardcore Madge buffs included, but I hope something strikes a fancy for the less familiar fans. Enjoy!

“Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold Remix)”

I first discovered this after a download binge back in April of ’08 from PopMuse. After surfacing on shuffle mode during a jog with my iPod, the remix been a fixture on my gym playlist ever since. With its pounding beat and distant moans, the Paul Oakenfold mix of “Give It 2 Me” turns Madge’s already great Hard Candy throbber into a full-on club affair. (iTunes)

“Bedtime Story (Orbital Remix)”

The Orbital remix of Madge’s Björk-penned 1995 single was revitalized in 2004 when it was used as a video backdrop during her Re-Invention Tour. Brooding, minimal and vaguely reminiscent of the William Orbit mysticism that would color 1998′s Ray of Light, the Orbital mix breathes new life into an already incredible track. The slow stutter of “Let’s get unconscious” in the first minute is worth the price of admission alone! (iTunes)

“What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond 12″ Club Remix)”

The Above & Beyond remix of “What It Feels Like For A Girl” strips the song of its softly-sung angst in favor of a distinctly ‘new millennium’-era trance makeover. The video mix is vocal-less (aside from the sorrowful croon of “For a girl in this world…”), which makes for the perfect soundtrack to Madge’s four minute hell-on-wheels destruction spree. Watch out–granny on board!

“Erotica (Confessions Tour Version)”

Oh, this remix: Crafted by Stuart Price for 2006′s Confessions Tour, this mix adds in elements of the song’s original, never-before-heard demo (“You Thrill Me”) to a dark, moody beat, resulting in a truly lush, romantic re-imagining of the 1992 original. It’s perfect, just as with every single second of Confessions. (iTunes)

“Burning Up (12″ Mix)”

While it isn’t really that much of a reinvention, the slightly more electro-pop oriented 12″ mix, one of Madonna’s first actual remixes, strips away some of the rockier elements of the original and adds in some dainty ’80′s-tastic synthesizers. What can I say? For dancing ’round the room while getting ready, Madonna-era Madonna simply remains unmatched.

“Celebration (Benny Benassi Remix)”

I remember “Celebration” getting some flack for attempting to be too ‘of the moment’ by some Madonnaholics at the time, but the song is really nowhere near as guilty of such desperation as, say, the bulk of Hard Candy. Though she was still a bit late jumping the nu-electro-pop train back in ’09, “Celebration” was a guiltless, joyful–well, celebration! The Benassi re-swizzle of the Oakenfold original gives the track a sexy grind and arena-sized synthesizers that feel make the song feel gigantic; ultimately much more befitting for the Queen. (iTunes)
