The Promotional Campaign for Bjork’s New Album ‘Biophilia’ Begins

The promotional campaign for Björk‘s new album Biophilia has begun to…unravel.

On Tuesday morning, M/M Paris, the French design duo and longtime Björk collaborators, unveiled the new website for Bjork.com. Apart from revealing the new logo for the album (pictured above). the minimal, interactive design allows users to navigate a galaxy of stars and shapes.

At the same time, a series of viral teasers have been uploaded throughout the week to a YouTube account called MrBiophilia.

Keeping in line with the theme of the album–exploring technology and the transmission of music–the videos mainly focus on quick glimpses of computer screens and even quicker digital soundbites: The Icelandic singer is clearly heard talking in the first clip, which also reveals a song title (“Solar Song”) and a brief snippet. The next reveals the album’s new logo amid ambient noise, while further editions reveal fuzzy shots of microphones, new lyrics (“Every cell is a drop of instinct”), brief vocal takes and strange, otherworldly noises–in other words, all the weirdness of a typical Björk production.

Today’s clip–“Bio_Ego”–is the closest sneak peek at new music thus far, featuring Björk clearly singing the words “emotional” and “egocentric” on repeat against a skipping electronic beat. (And it sounds amazing!)

All these teasers got you thirsting for more? Worry not, because the wait is nearly over: Björk is preparing to perform new tunes from Biophilia during her three-week residency at the Manchester International Festival in June.
