JoJo’s Cover of Drake’s “Marvin’s Room” Is The Best Thing She’s Ever Recorded Since Ever Bradley Stern June 14, 2011 JoJo 6 Comments 372 GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR PANTS, SIT THE FUCK DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP. MuuMuse caught up with JoJo before she performed at the She’s The First: Girls Who Rock 2011 benefit last Friday…BUT SHE FORGOT TO TELL US ABOUT THIS. The young singer has just released a cover/lady response to Drake‘s “Marvin Room”–a track set to appear on his upcoming album Take Care–to Rap-Up, and it is quite literally THE BEST THING SHE HAS EVER RECORDED.* Why? “I’ve been up for three days, Adderall and Red Bull.” Okay, but so? “I ran into your homeboys, they’re all fucking idiots. You’re not even my boyfriend, but they’re trippin’ ’cause I’m in the club.” I see. And? “Yeah, that’s right, I’m dancin’. Something cool is in my cup. I’m gonna send a sexy picture to remind you what you givin’ up.” Right, but then what? “Fuck that new girl that’s been in your bed, and when you’re in her, I know I’m in your head.” YES. YES. YASSSSSSSS. In a world of “I can’t” and “I cannot even,” I can wholeheartedly say that this is simply a can that I absolutely cannot do. No, but in all seriousness: Like 2010’s “(I Only Know Him) In The Dark,” the unbelievably amazing lead single from last year’s Can’t Take That Away From Me, “Marvin’s Room (Can’t Do Better)” finds JoJo once again sorrowfully crooning above an über-drippy, minimal beat wrapped up in weird, warm atmospherica. SO DRIPPY. SO NASTY. It is absolutely everything. If you don’t like this, you’re probably a terrorist. I’M JUST SAYING. BOWING DOWN. *OR AT LEAST ONE OF THE VERY BEST. I don’t think this is that special since it’s pretty much the exact same as Drake’s but from a female perspective. Both times JoJo has covered Drake she hasn’t been able to match him, but they’re cute for remixes. e smith im in the middle between theprophet and u brad Gummy bear Hell no Prophet! this SLAYS! Legend think she got a crush on that canadian. smh Anonymous I like what she’s working toward, but it really pales in comparison to Drake. There’s a weariness in his vocals that makes you feel like the weight of the world is on his shoulders, and the production is just sick.
