Lana Del Rey Falls For the Bad Boy in “Blue Jeans” (Video Premiere)

“I heard that you like the bad girls. Honey, is that true?” Lana Del Ray solemnly asks in the chorus of “Video Games,” her debut single due out on October 17. (If you missed it, check out the “Introduucing…Lana Del Rey” post from July.)

Well, I don’t know if Lana’s been chit-chatting with Brit Brit lately, but it seems as though the otherworldly beauty is intent on snagging her own criminal, begging and pleading to make it work with a shady beau: “Big dreams, gangster / Said you had to leave to start your life over,” Del Rey croons during “Blue Jeans,” the incredible B-side to Del Rey’s equally incredible debut single.

Slightly more uptempo than the song’s accompanying A-side (yet every bit as gorgeous and devastating in tone), “Blue Jeans” gallops along with a sun-setting Western twang as Del Rey’s haunting voice is enveloped by soaring strings: “Walked into the room, you know you made my eyes burn / It was like James Dean for sure / You so fresh to death and sick as ca-cancer,” she slowly staggers. Does any other line so perfectly capture the throwback-meets-modern mystique of Miss Lana Del Rey?

Amazing, once again.

“Video Games” will be released on October 17. (iTunes)
