Oh, my darling Tinashe.

In just under a year’s time, the rising R&B-pop princess has gone from gyrating against a wall to The Holy Spearit, to releasing her fantastic debut EP, to unleashing an unbelievably sick video for “This Feeling,” to inking a record deal with RCA Records. (MAJOR.)

Now, ahead of her forthcoming major label debut, the songstress is readying the release of a mixtape, called Reverie. And to kick off the campaign, she’s just premiered the first track from the upcoming collection: “Stargazing.”

Filled with twinkling electronica, echoing vocals and dreamy ambient noise, the Bmarz-produced number finds Tinashe floating in the ethos: “I’m still living in a dream/Someday you will fall in love with me,” she coos delicately. It’s a absolutely mesmerizing, repeat-ready production, channeling traces of the creep-hop of The Weeknd and the artful minimalism of The XX, representing yet another slice of Tinashe’s next-level R&B sound. Play this one on loop forever on your next nightly outing doing…well, whatever it is that you’re doing.

And yes, it’s completely free.

YEEES! I love it. She’s really following through on crafting her soundscape, pulling off on something Usher couldn’t after Climax. Get it, girl! Brandy, Tinashe–interesting season for R&B women (and gays–get it Frank Ocean) taking R&B deeper instead of padding it with dance sounds to sell.

  • Yours Stargazing

I just stumbled across this and downloaded the album. She should be getting paid for this, this is some professional sh*. It’s a shame she’s doing this for nothing while people with half the talent and half the effort in creating a personal sound make millions. I hope she gets hers. Good Luck, Grrl!
