The G.R.L. Revolution Begins: Listen to The Girl Group’s Debut Single, “Vacation”

Take a group of girls, put them in a recording studio, and let’s face it…I’m already sold.

While X Factor alums Fifth Harmony officially launched their career with “Miss Movin’ On” over the weekend and soulful UK songstresses MKS continue to tease their already amazing “Flatline,” Robin Antin‘s long, long-awaited addition to her seemingly endless girl group franchise is ready to shimmy their way onto the scene.

Originally branded as the Pussycat Dolls 2.0 back in 2012, the group isn’t just a batch of fresh industry newbies — and that’s what makes them so intriguing already: It’s Lauren Bennett (of Paradiso Girls fame), Simone Battle (of X Factor USA fame), Paula Van Oppen (of So You Think You Can Dance fame), up-and-coming songstress Natasha Slayton and “Get Down” songstress (and Bates Motel actress), Emmalyn Estrada.

Together, they’re G.R.L. — and “Vacation” is their official debut.

Packaged alongside Britney‘s “Ooh La La” (thanks for the distribution deal, Dr. Luke!), the summery break-up anthem is all sorts of radio-friendly fun, full of earworm melodies, a shimmering, propulsive synth-pop beat and, of course, a chorus that just won’t quit: “I’m on vacation tonight / I’m gonna lose my mind with someone…ne-e-e-e-w!” It’s a fairly by-the-numbers Dr. Luke banger that could easily be a Teenage Dream bonus track — but that doesn’t make it any less of a smash.

The girls sound great together and the video, no doubt, will be hot fiya. (It’s a Robin Antin group, after all — just imagine the choreography!)

Too obvious of a Top 40 pop offering for you? Considering the Smurfs 2 tie-in, “Vacation” is probably one of the bubbliest offerings from G.R.L. Undoubtedly, they’ll be loosening up their buttons in no time.
