Solange Releases Video for “Lovers In The Parking Lot,” Remains Infinitely Cooler Than You

Solange stays slaying.

“Lovers In The Parking Lot,” the dreamy standout from her impeccable Dev Hynes-produced 2012 EP True, just got itself a slick new video, co-directed by Solange herself, Peter J. Brant and Emily Kai Bock (Grimes“Oblivion”) and shot at Kings Flea Market in Houston.

Watch as Solange plays around with your heart and then plays around in the dark from shop to shop inside the market, showing off her supreme sense of style, busting a move in front of an array of (snatched) wigs and hip-thrusting her way around amused shopkeepers and security guards — played by Bun B and Mannie Fresh. So many moves! She’s bend-and-snapping, kung fu fighting, hair flipping, voguing, squatting and everything in between.

Funky choreography. Balloons and streamers. Glitter and lamé. Light-up shoelaces. The only thing this video’s missing is a 5-foot inflatable banana. Any questions?

True was released in November of 2012. (iTunes)
