Introduucing…Jess Glynne!

Jess Glynne might be a new name as a solo starlet, but her voice ought to be awfully familiar for those of you with an ear to the dance floor in 2014.

The soulful UK songstress is responsible for supplying the vocal stylings featured on Route 94‘s UK #1 “My Love,” as well as Clean Bandit‘s “Rather Be” — two of the year’s greatest dance tracks.

Now, she’s stepping out onto the dance floor on her own with her debut single “Right Here,” due out on July 14 — and it’s exactly where she needs to be.

Produced by Gorgon City (responsible for the fantastic “Ready For Your Love” with MNEK, among others), “Right Here” is an obvious club killer from the start, bringing the full-bodied sound of ’90’s dance floor divas like CeCe Peniston and Robin S to mind, as well as today’s nu-school revivalists, including Katy B and Róisín Murphy.

“Finally I’m where I want to be,” Jess declares off the top of her debut tune — a fairly appropriate declaration before kicking off a solo career if I’ve ever heard one. “Right here/You got me where you want me/Now, I’m right here!” she later calls out above the throbbing slice of chic deep disco, backed by funky horns and infectious chants (“UHH-uhh-uhh!”) — it’s the kind of chorus that just feels right. It’s the stuff of summer anthem dreams!

In addition to Gorgon City, Jess has also been hitting the studio with Switch and Felix Snow while working on her forthcoming LP. And if “Right Here” is any indication, she’s seriously coming for wigs.

“Right Here” will be released on July 14. (iTunes)
