“Outlines”: Dragonette Did A House Track With Mike Mago, And It Is Truly Great

It’s been a minute (a very long minute) since we last heard the Dragonette troupe making some noise out on the dance floor.

But they’re back now — in the form of a collaboration, at least — and it’s really so, so good.

Amsterdam producer Mike Mago recruited Mizz Martina Dragonette to supply her sweet vocal stylings his funky, summer-friendly House record, “Outlines.”

The pop melodies are strong from start to end (“I wonder what chu do!“), the beat is vibrant and that chorus is praiseworthy: “Another love undercover/Outlines of a heart!” Best of all, the beat drops aren’t insufferable! It’s all very Disclosure (“White Lies”), very Clean Bandit (“Rather Be”), very Route 94 (“My Love”) — somewhere within in that whole camp of refreshing, ’90’s leaning feel-good House making waves both overseas and stateside.

Job well done, all.
