“Let Your Tears Fall”: Kelly Clarkson And Sia Form A Support Group On ‘Piece By Piece’

Check out this EXCLUSIVE #MTVFirst & @ReesesPBCups album premiere!

Despite how it may seem, Kelly Clarkson‘s Piece By Piece isn’t actually leaking — which is shocking really, given the current state of album leaks in 2015.

In fact, she just keeps delivering the music on a daily basis…except for today that is, as she’s just provided a double dose of new tunes.

After getting high (no, not in that way) with “Take You High,” The Artist Formerly Known As Miss Independent has returned with a second Sia collaboration, this one being “Let Your Tears Fall.” And like the majority of Piece By Piece, it’s Kelly’s way of offering up some support — this time with a shoulder on which to cry. (God, remember “Cry”?)

To no one’s surprise, the song offers up some particularly strong melodies  — that “let your tears fall, let your tears fall” chant is a major earworm — resulting in some rather soothing musical medicine for the heavy-hearted. (It’s a Sia song, so…duh.)

As for the song’s origins? It’s actually the first one she recorded for Piece By Piece, according to this interview with VH1 about the song:

I recorded it while on tour with Maroon 5, which was a couple of years ago. I loved the song. I got it from Greg [Kurstin], my producer, and he works a lot with Sia.  Her project had just finished and he told me they wrote this song and wanted me to hear it. I fell in love with it! I just love the message. It’s about having that person in your life —or people in your life— who can be a shoulder to cry on, or if you want to bitch about something, or anything. So I love having those people in your life, and this song is for that person.

She also has some very glowing things to say about Sia:

She’s really had a life. There’s nothing worse than hearing a singer sing a sad song and you can tell that they’ve never been brokenhearted or never gone through something terribly difficult. It just sounds so vanilla! But when you have people like Sia in the world, you can tell the difference. You can tell that she has definitely had a life, and she lived to tell a story about heartbreak. And you believe it!

And for those of you who might be feeling a bit meh about Kelly’s noticeable sense of calm post-marriage and motherwood, she’s well aware.

Yeah, I always make jokes about that when Brandon [Blackstock] and I first got together. “You ruined my creativity!” But I’m just being funny because I think I’m at the best place I’ve been in my whole life. I could not be happier.

Will you be making an appointment with Dr. Clarkson-Blackstock for some therapy sessions? She’s open for business.

I’m not scared to care/Come to me when you’re in need, set it free, let the truth breathe…

“Let Your Tears Fall” was released on February 26. (iTunes)
