Yesterday, Pitchfork posted an amazing interview with Natasha Khan. Today, we’ve got another, this time with OUT Magazine.
I just love listening to and reading this girl’s thoughts, from Kate Bush to Brooklyn to drag queen inspiration. Not pretentious, not confrontational…she just seems open to interesting ideas and inspiration. And I just can’t get over her style! She’s really something.

Remember that tingling sensation you felt when you first heard “Glass” by Bat For Lashes?
It’s back.
This is “Cosmic Love,” a track off of Florence & The Machine‘s upcoming debut on July 7. Needless to say, it’s really something. Similarly lined with whipping drum rolls and raw, uncontrollable bursts of emotion-laden lyricism, “Cosmic Love” is a chilling invocation of the classic quirk of Kate Bush and otherworldly wisps of Bat For Lashes and Björk.
Chilling. Powerful. A must.
There’s been so many video premieres this week…
It’s quite late, and I’m quite tired, but I couldn’t help but post this most gorgeous video from Miss Natasha Khan. Looking a bit like a middle school production of the Big Bang Theory, Ms. Lashes floats, zaps, and glitters her way through a most mystical interpretation of one of the best tracks from her considerably solid second effort, Two Suns. And all while wearing Brandon Flowers‘ hairy shoulder coat.
J’adore.

With the recent news of Cheryl Cole‘s plan to record a solo album following the closure of the Aloud‘s Out Of Control Tour, I thought I’d put together my thoughts regarding the possibility for each Aloud’s individual successes if they were ever to go solo.
(Let’s face it, we have to do something to pass the time until the debut of Sophie Ellis-Bextor‘s video for “Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer.”)
Cheryl Cole
Probable Title: My Tyme
Sounds like: Victoria Beckham‘s original solo album; Top 40 “urban” pop
Actual Listenability: 6/10
Public Success: 7/10
Nicola Roberts
Probable Title: Teardrops
Sounds like: Astonishing, breathy quirk-pop; Lykke Li meets Bats For Lashes
Actual Listenability: 10/10
Public Success: 5/10
Sarah Harding
Probable Title: Take It 2 The Top
Sounds like: Cascada; Hi-NRG covers of Girls Aloud favorites
Actual Listenability: 4/10
Public Success: 6/10
Nadine Coyle
Probable Title: Nadine Coyle
Sounds like: Geri Halliwell‘s first solo album; crunchy pop confections, dance tracks, and torch songs.
Actual Listenability: 9/10
Public Success: 8/10
Kimberley Walsh
Probable Title: Wishing and Wishing
Sounds like: Kimberley Locke‘s musical career; covers of musicals and tired jazz standards
Actual Listenabiliy: 6/10
Public Success: 3/10
That sounds about right.

It’s become rather clear that I missed a few members on my Most Anticipated 2009 post.
Consider Bat For Lashes‘ position within the post now firmly secured.
“Glass” is an album track on Natasha Khan’s upcoming sophomore album, Two Suns, due for release on April 6. For those who need the final verdict–spoiler alert ahead: It’s uh-mazing.
The track opens with a lovely, tender acapella from a nearly whispering Khan, slowly filling with a soft string of ambient melodica, pulsating drums, and chilled chimes of bells. As the song’s pace begins to quicken, so too does the narrative–a beautifully fragmented tale of Medieval proportions.
Finally, the chorus’ break: Gorgeous, operatic vocals rises high into the airwaves, paralleling the booming drum beat down below. “When two suns are shining, the battle becomes blinding” she pours out between the chaos.
“Glass” has a familiar feel upon first play, reminiscent of several bass-heavy classics from Björk‘s prolific back catalog, including “Hunter,” “”Who Is It?” and perhaps a bit of “Army of Me.”
Crashing guitar riffs, distant clattering, and ethereal bellowing lead the track into its eventual demise; a gorgeous combination of angelic vocal and coarse, heavy rhythms.
This is–I shall stress–not to be missed.
