It’s been what feels like forever and a day (as Kelly Rowland might say) since we last heard from our almighty Ke$ha, Empress of Trash-Pop. But rest assured–she’s coming back, animals.
Earlier this year, the glitter-drenched rock ‘n’ roll pop princess spent time in L.A. recording with unstoppable pop hit-makers that helped shape her debut record Animal, Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. This time however, she was busy crafting her very own genre, which she lovingly referred to on Twitter as “cock pop.”
Along with the usual suspects however, K$ also took to her Nashville home studio to record with Oklahoma-bred alt-rockers and newfound pals, The Flaming Lips.
As my friends over at Pop On And On initially reported, frontman Wayne Coyne tweeted out a bunch of photos and teaser clips back in January while recording a track for their upcoming Record Store Day compilation, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. The end result was “2012″ with Biz Markie, a track centering around “the end of the world.” (Hey, wait–that sounds oddly familiar. I wonder if she’s ever written a song like that before?)
In an interview with Pitchfork earlier this month, Coyne spoke in depth about recording with Ke$ha:
I like her so much because she’s just willing to be a freak. I’m around a lot of rock star people, and there’s just so much fucking pandering and drama. She’s not like that. It’s such a great relief to be around people that are so energetic, creative, funny, and into life.
(You’ll want to read that whole interview by the way, including a fun little anecdote about almost dropping acid with her before recording the track. Silly K$!)
Now, Ke$ha and Coyne have reunited in the studio to record more tracks–and this time, it’s for her long awaited sophomore follow-up. Once again, Coyne’s been tweeting out teasers from the sessions, like a clip of Ke$ha seductively moaning the phrase “You really got it goin’ good now.”
And most recently (as in, just a few hours ago), Coyne tweeted that he was mixing a new K$ track called “You Control My Heart,” including a sneak peek video which you can check out below.
And this is exactly what we’ve been waiting to hear: New Ke$ha. New sound. As she told MTV earlier, it sounds like she’s allowing herself to be much more vulnerable. With The Flaming Lips on board, it sounds as though our drunk-pop darling is navigating into some seriously dreamy, ambient indie-rock on whatever she’s cooking up–and it sounds fucking amazing.
As we know from her leaked demos and tracks penned for other artists, Kween Ke$ha’s quite kapable of penning pop with substance and krooning far better than she’s led the public to believe based on her most popular club-pop smashes. So, if she turns around and delivers a collection of bold left-of-center tunes that still pack a power-pop punch? I wouldn’t be surprised in the least.
This album cannot come soon enough.
Neon Hitch – Fuck U Betta by NeonHitch
YASSSS! At long last, the studio version of Neon Hitch‘s “Fuck U Betta,” her latest Benny Blanco-produced single off of her upcoming debut album Beg, Borrow & Steal, has been unleashed onto the Interwebz.
Though Hitch has been performing this one live for months while out on tour, “Fuck U Betta” is finally making its formal appearance in 2012. Now, I’ve already been booty dropping to this one for a while now, and I must say: It’s still a staple in my nightly underwear-dancing-in-my-room sessions. Why? Several reasons:
For one thing (or really, for everything), the hook: “She can fuck you good, but I can fuck you betta!” I mean…DAMN! It packs such a punch! So you went ahead and found yourself a sexy piece? That’s nice, bet she can’t do it like Neon does! Personal anthem much?
Then, there’s that surging beat. It’s a little bit “Hold It Against Me”-lite until the chorus, which is actually a little “I Wanna Go,” right back to the dub-pop inspired skittering breakdown, which is a little bit “Hold It Against Me” again–making this one an easy win for fans of Brit Brit‘s Femme Fatale offerings. Plus, all the warped “Betta, betta, betta, betta, betta, betta, ay!” bits peppered throughout the chorus? So fun! So flail-worthy!
“Bad Dog” was a reg’lar pop stormer, but this? This one’s a no-brainer that’ll keep banging your brains out. Now get this track on the radio STAT!
I CAN FUCK YOU BETTUH, BAYBEE!
“Fuck U Betta” will be released this month to radio. (iTunes)
STOP YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING LIFE.
Sometimes, in life, things happen that are so incredible they actually defy explanation. This happened to me last weekend at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, when I was brought face-to-face with rising popstrel, Dr. Luke protege, and Britney Spears collaborator Sabi, who was DJing at the Teen Vogue Haute Spot.
Sabi is best known for, among other things, making everyone in the world say “Who?” when her guest spot on Femme Fatale was announced, elevating Cobra Starship’s “You Make Me Feel” into a compulsively listenable track with her dope-ass hook, and releasing a truly superb pop-dubstep hybrid buzz track called “Wild Heart,” which you should definitely listen to if you haven’t already.
She is also responsible for literally the greatest lyric in the Britney Spears oeuvre: Her audacious pronouncement during her rap on “Drop Dead Beautiful” that a nearby gentleman has her “steaming like a pot full of vegetables.”
In what is possibly the most important news item you will read this year, I can reveal to MuuMuse readers excluusively here that Sabi not only is prone to steaming like a pot full of vegetables, but also steams vegetables of her very own. “I do steam my vegetables,” she confirmed. (It should be noted that Sabi was an incredibly good sport about the whole thing, and also looked super cute in polka dots and leather shorts. Bold, Sabi. Very bold indeed.)
When I told her that my initial intent was to bring a steaming pot full of vegetables for her, she laughed hard and said, “I would have died.” She has requested that on our next meeting, she be greeted with vegetables. (Direct quote: “Next time you see me, bring a pot full of vegetables.” Hopefully this will be included in her rider going forward.)
Sabi also talked about recording her upcoming album, due out in early 2012, which she reports will be “urban-rooted, mixed in with pop [and] alternative.” The album, she says, will also feature more of the dubstep influences that we heard in “Wild Heart”: “When I heard some of the dubstep that’s coming from the UK, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy, can I do something like that?’ On my album, I’ve been honing in on my sound — and I might do a feature that’s another dubstep record.”
Expect the album to include more collaborations with Dr. Luke, who Sabi says is “so skilled… and the nicest guy ever,” as well as tracks with Benny Blanco, Toby Gad, and Diplo (!). Her only criterium, she says, is that “they bring me hotness.”
You’re welcome.
Thanks to Alex Goldschmidt for providing moral support, and also for promising Sabi that next time we saw her we would bring her “a bushel of vegetables from the farmers’ market.”

Last week, MuuMuse premiered the DJ Chuckie remix of Neon Hitch‘s sensational new summer single, “Bad Dog.”
Now, it’s time to hear the whole thing!
Click above to listen to “Bad Dog,” which just premiered this morning on JustJared.
Much like Hitch’s “Get Over U” and “Silly Girl,” “Bad Dog” has rapidly become a favorite of the year.
“I just found out I’m fucking with a bad dog,” Hitch announces atop the song’s bouncy intro beat, produced by Benny Blanco and co-penned by Ester Dean. Add in a woof-filled explosion of ruff electro-pop beats and extra lusty moans, and you’ve the freshest, most sizzling production we’ve heard yet from the flame-haired gypsy pop princess.
In fact, “Bad Dog” bangs harder than 99% of anything that’s sucking up the radio airwaves at the moment–it seriously deserves to be a major summer smash. It is UHMAYZING.
Still no word on when this one’s hitting the street yet, but one thing’s for sure: She’s definitely barking up the right tree.
WOOF!
SIT! STAY! GOOD BOY.
When I first caught Neon Hitch performing live at Splash in New York City two months ago–twerking her hips alongside shirtless drummers, riding boys with leashes and generally slaying the stage (watch it all go down live!)–there was one song in particular that had me clutching my pearls and raving like no one’s business: “Bad Dog.”
Complimented by a bevy of yelps and howls, the Benny Blanco-produced “Bad Dog” is a delicious explosion of pulsating electro-pop and naughty carnal yearning. “You’re just an animal that I caught / You know I’m yours, so rip my clothes off!” Hitch commands during the song’s snarling chorus. Woof!
Now, “Bad Dog” is poised to sink its teeth deep into the charts this summer as the gypsy pop princess’ ferocious new single.
Neon Hitch – Bad Dog (DJ Chuckie Remix) by muumuse
Yesterday, ArjanWrites brought you the utterly addictive Discotech remix of “Bad Dog.” Earlier this morning, Out Magazine premiered the electro-tastic Jason Nevins mix. Now it’s time to add another fabulous mix–err, into the mix!
Above is an Excluusive stream of the DJ Chuckie remix of Neon Hitch’s upcoming single, “Bad Dog.”
DJ Chuckie’s re-fix is a ruthlessly searing system overload, pumped up to the max with rave o’clock synthesizers and unstoppably hard, bangin’ beats guaranteed to leave you panting on the floor. Much like the original, it’s a solid smash!
Now then, who’s ready for a treat?

Neon Hitch, one of MuuMuse’s favorite up-and-coming acts, has just unveiled a brand new cut from her forthcoming debut: “Silly Girl.â€
The gypsy pop princess’ newest track–which gets a production assist from the likes of Switch (Beyoncé’s “Girls (We Run The World)â€) and Benny Blanco (Ke$ha, Britney Spears)–is a complete reversal from her sweetly-sung, Robyn-esque debut, “Get Over U.†This time, things are about to get dirty.
Did you find your hips a-churnin’ and your body a-burnin’ to Ke$ha’s basement floor banger, “Sleazy Well, hang on to your forties, slut bags: Hitch’s newest smash falls right in line with K$’s almighty raunch-fest, complete with insanely warped vocals and filthy, warbling beats that grind relentlessly on repeat.
It’s winding, weird and all shades of wicked. Oh, Neon darling—you’ve got me hooked once again!

Check out this brand new snippet from Britney‘s Femme Fatale, “Drop Dead Beautiful,” featuring Warner Bros. recording artist Sabi of The Bangz, which premiered earlier tonight on BadMediaKarma.
The song, which was produced by Benny Blanco, Ammo, JMIKE and Billboard, sounds a bit like a mix between Usher‘s “OMG” and The Fame-era Lady Gaga. We’ve definitely got some Sassney going on here!
And now, as a co-excluusive with my friends over at BMK, here’s a first look at the first verse and chorus lyrics from “Drop Dead Beautiful,” plus Sabi’s rap!
Ooh!
Diamond diamond, shinin’ shinin’
Oh boy you’re so fine
Gotta be the finest thing that I’ve seen in my life
I will pay whatever just to get a better view
And yeah, your body looks so sick, I think I caught the fluLook at you, look at you
Be my sweetie, be my honey tonight (2x)‘Cause you’re beautiful (DROP DEAD)
Beautiful (DROP DEAD) (6x)
You’re some kind of fineSabi’s rap:
Boy, boy look at you
I wanna get, get, get next to you
Got me kinda hot but I ain’t sweating you
Steaming like a pot full of vegetables
Boy, boy look at me
I know you want to touch but it ain’t for free
I don’t need your money, I just want your D
Boy come over here witch’yo sexy ass!
Femme Fatale will be released on March 29. (iTunes)
BEHOLD: The debut video for Neon Hitch‘s “Get Over U.”
After Arjan Writes debuted the MuuMuse Approved track a few weeks ago, Idolator just snagged the premiere of Hitch’s Benny Blanco produced, Sia co-penned buzz track, “Get Over U.”
The gorgeous clip, shot by Jason Bergh, follows the fiery siren’s trek from the trailer park to the sea and back as she goes and gets all gypsy-like in response to a rather hostile situation back at home. Flowing robes, glass bottles, tarot cards, rose petals–you name it, she’s divining it!
You know, I’m really quite smitten with the Hitch. She’s like a breath of fresh–err, salty air.
Voice is top notch, the style feels authentic, and the background story is absolutely amazing for any pop starlet-to-be. (A little fire swinging, anyone?) Plus, this whole whimsical, bohemian pop styling reminds me a bit of a young Stevie Nicks.
I’m even getting a more fanciful Ke$ha vibe about her! You know, like…if you washed off the vomit and wrenched the Jack Daniel’s from K$’s glitter-drenched hand and replaced it with a bottle of freshly scooped seawater and sand. Am I entirely off the mark? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the nose ring.
Regardless: This one’s just been doubly MuuMuse Approved. Absolutely L-O-V-E!
Neon Hitch’s debut album, Beg, Borrow and Steal, will be released later in 2011.
