It’s that time, ladies and gentlemen: Grab those neon-glow shutter shades, dig through your ironic vintage tees, and go steal your sister’s jeans, ’cause it’s…

DL: Designer Drugs – Zombie (Hot Pink Delorean Remix)
Hipster Intrigue: 10/10
Legitimate Danceablity: 2/10

It’s loud, it’s noise, and literally nothing happens. What’s it sound like? A cassette tape of Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” being thrown into a cheese grater production line. Worthless, though it’ll score me loads of love on HypeMachine!

DL
: KOVAS – Wax On, Wax Off
Hipster Intrigue: 6/10
Legitamite Danceability: 6/10

KOVAS both excites and worries me. I’m excited because of the crunchy, glittering stomp beats, but worried by the fact that his style and artist collaborations (Justin Timberlake, Ciara) seems to verge dangerously close to the edge of Timbaland territory. You’ll have to excuse the DJ tags, that’s how it came in the mail.

“Wax On, Wax Off” is the lead single off KOVAS’ upcoming LP, Reagan Babies, which you can listen to here.

DL: Major Lazer – Hold It Down (Poirier Remix)
Hipster Intrigue: 9/10
Legitimate Danceability: 8/10

This last one’s legit: An ultra smooth, pulsating baile funk dancehall sensation from the up-and-coming Jamaican producer Major Lazer. Plus, Santogold’s on the track! Err…I mean ~Santigold.~ What’s with the name switch lady? It’s totally lame.

With Diplo, Switch, and a dozen or so dancehall artists in tow, watch for his debut LP, Gun Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do as the surefire bet to set underground playlists ablaze this summer.

It has arrived–the full version of Annie‘s upcoming single, “Anthonio,” off of her cruelly titled, forever delayed sophomore album, Don’t Stop.

It is, of course, brilliant. AND YES, THERE’S A MASSIVE KEY CHANGE AT THE END.

And, if we are to believe her label, this is the alleged round-up of release types for “Anthonio”:

ITEM1
12″
Original Mix, Fred Falke Mix, Designer Drugs Remix, Berlin Breakdown Version.
(This is limited to 500 worldwide so don’t blame us if you pick it up then put it down again and next time it’s gone)

ITEM1CD
CD single
Original Mix, Fred Falke Mix, Designer Drugs Remix, Berlin Breakdown Version.

ITEM1D
Digital Single
Original Mix , Designer Drugs Remix

ITEM1DE
Digital EP
Original Mix, Fred Falke Mix, Designer Drugs Remix, Berlin Breakdown Version.Vaughn_E Remix, Ferret Summer
(New exclusive Vaughn_E remix and what’s this, a brand new bonus track..?!?)

“Ferret Summer”? Sounds like a bad experience during summer camp in the 7th grade–I don’t want to talk about it.

Oh, Anthonio!

PS–have you Tweeted me yet? Well, why not? I think I deserve to know what type of dressing you’re putting on your salad as much as the next Tom, Dick, or Harold.

Just…

WOW.

Though we haven’t heard the original in full yet, I’m willing to bet Designer Drugs just given “Anthonio” a run for its money. Synth-pop, pico-pop…Call it what you will, this is some prime pickin’s. No really, give it three seconds–If you’re not sold, you probably don’t belong here.

Just kidding. A little.

So if you’re not too busy seeking Amy, start looking for Anthonio. Trust me, he’s worth your time.

3ef8b04c057dcf8fd87858d969678060 Annie: Enter 2009
Adios, Island Records…Hello, Richard X!

There hasn’t been too much buzz about it, but Annie is planning a proper release for February 2009! This time, it’s going to see the light of day…I can feel it.

The track, called “Ánthonio,” will be packaged under Richard X’s label, Black Melody, along with two remixes: One by Designer Drugs, and one by Fred Falke. I love the title…It’s very Hercules & Love Affair. Let’s hope it’s aurally similar as well (with a few more synths added in for good measure)!

Along with that, the Nordic electro-doll is already preparing a second release closely after “Ánthonio.” You’re spoiling us, darling! Says Annie-kins on her blog of the impending releases:

Been working a lot on getting the sleeve ready for my next single…it..s a great designer who..s living in Berlin that..s gonne do it,so mailing him all kinds of ideas, pix etc…so exited bout Ánthonio….. I..m also preparing another single that will be out close to Ánthonio.., so for next year I..ll release records as often as possible, music for your ears.oh yeah

She loves punctuation. Really, she does.

In celebration, a random track from Annie’s catalog: Her collabo with The Teddybears!

And if there’s no further updates today…I hope you and yours have a simply smashing New Years celebration!

See you in 2009!
