“My Humps” hit-maker Fergie of Black Eyed Peas fame (who’s last solo single was released in September of 2007) has just been named Woman of the Year for the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event. No, I’m not even kidding.

Black Eyed Peas vocalist and six-time Grammy-winning artist Fergie will receive the Woman of the Year Award at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York.

“I am humbled and excited to accept the Billboard Woman of the Year Award,” Fergie says. “Being honored by Billboard is a great career achievement.”

Fergie spent 2010 touring the world alongside her Black Eyed Peas bandmates on the Blackberry Presents: The E.N.D. World Tour, performing hits from the group’s hugely successful 2009 album, “The E.N.D.”

In response to the accouncement, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Ciara and Nicki Minaj have prepared the following joint statement:

“LOL WUT.”

Are you even serious right now, Billboard?

It’s impossible for me to ignore the latest dramz involving Perez Hilton getting slugged by Black Eyed Peas‘ manager, Polo Molina. And now I have something to say about it.

Perez Hilton is a bully, but we knew that already. His site is built around the antagonizing of celebrities–from their most superficial promotional stunts to their most vulnerable moments of anguish and personal trauma. Of course I visit the site, more often than I ought to, though it’s never been about Perez’s “opinion”–he just tends to have the stories first. Guilty? Sure.

As for the “incident”:

Violence is, as he blubbered into the camera of his “statement” posted on PerezHilton.com earlier this morning, never the answer. That is a fact, and I agree that Molina’s alleged actions were unacceptable and despicable.

But were they entirely unwarranted?

As the “Queen of All Media” purports wholeheartedly in his eleven minute whine-fest, he clearly sees no wrong in what he does. “I like writing about other people’s drama,” he babbles as his eyes turn glassy, “I don’t like drama in my own life.” I mean, it’s like…it’s just words, right? Words are totally not violent or damaging! So obviously, it would make sense that the Queen of Mean can’t wrap his mind around why someone could possibly get upset for calling Fergie “fugly.”

Or when he called Will.i.Am a faggot on Sunday night after the MuchMusicAwards Show.

The hypocrisy loaded into that “insult,” that “faggot,” fired out against the Black Eyed Peas member by the guest judge of the Miss USA competition (who, at one time, made it his own personal vendetta to have Miss California publicly squashed and eventually dethroned for her anti-gay marriage stance), has managed to trump and effectively negate anything he’s ever “done” for the movement. I’ve always said Perez has been continuing to set the gay rights campaign back for years, but this truly takes the cake. A “faggot”? Really, Perez? Thank you. Thank you for succumbing to middle school association of a word already too far deep in negative connotation.

Why did it happen anyway? Because Perez got flustered–because Will.i.Am confronted Perez for trashing his band on the website. And what else could a threatened bully with full reign over public opinion and a nasty case of severe victim complex react with but a split-instant schoolboy response straight off the playground: “You’re a faggot,” or as Perez called his response, “the worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear.”

It’s almost too sad, though it does explain why he takes no issue with his BFF Katy Perry‘s “Ur So Gay.”

Grow up, you big baby…you’re embarrassing all of us.

First of all, BoA is releasing her second Greatest Hits compilation in Japan, featuring every single since “DO THE MOTION” and re-recorded versions of fan favorites, “VALENTI” and “Meri Kuri” (my favorite!) The release will be called BEST&USA and is set to be tied together in a 2-CD set with her English album on March 18. A marketer’s dream!

Then, BoA has found time to record her 27th Japanese single “Eien/Universe/Believe in LOVE,” a TRIPLE A-side due for release on February 18 in roughly thirty five thousand different formats (as is slowly becoming the trend in the J-Pop market). There’s a CD version, the CD+DVD, and then limited versions of each one featuring special bonus tracks and clips. Simply speaking, it’s impossible to keep track.

As for the lead single “Eien,” I remain unimpressed. It’s a pretty sub-standard R&B offering with some nice, melodious electro undercurrents going on, but the song is simply forgettable after the first play. In other words…A standard Japanese release from BoA.

Far more interesting to me are the A-sides from the single. The second will be a Bloodshy & Avant produced track with Crystal Kay and Verbal from M-Flo called “Universe.” Though it hasn’t leaked yet, there are far too many factors suggesting the track’s potential epic-nessity.

And then there’s the third, an acoustic version of a song recently recorded with Ravex called “Believe In LOVE.”

Let’s shift gears to the original version of the track. Essentially, “Believe In LOVE” is a dream come true for fans wishing that our superstar would branch out into newer, experimental genres. The song marries the ceaseless, rich ambient nature of an Eri Nobuchika track with BoA’s rich vocal abilities. I’ll admit that I’d like to hear Eri’s take on the track (where is she, lately?!), but I am nonetheless thoroughly impressed by this elegant arrangement. It’s certainly the most interesting thing she’s done in Japan for years!

Also, according to news reports, BoA has been recording with Sean Garrett and Brian Kennedy, two massive pop producers responsible for some of the hottest Fergie, Britney, and Rihanna tracks. Check out the final tracklisting for the English album:

Finally, slight fandom freak-out: “Hypnotic Dancefloor”? Cool! Is “Girls On Top” an English version of the very same hit song from 2005?! OMG! Watch out, America. Err, not that the general public would embrace the track, but still…Step it back now.

Oh, and the song is in English. Not shocking from the Fergie standpoint, but for Kumi, that’s never really happened. Well, there was that God awful rendition of “A Whole New World,” but I like to pretend that never happened. Or that “I Feel Love” cover. Oof. Anyway, it’s not the worst thing I’ve heard in my life, and I would argue that she’s got a better grasp of the language than her contemporaries (see every English song Ayumi’s ever attempted), but it still sounds incredibly unpolished. It also doesn’t help that the song is, for a majority of the time, awful, and by the end of the song even the Queen of Humps can do nothing to save this mid-tempo stinker from sinking full speed.

However this time, all the Fergielicious attitude in the world isn’t going to save this sinking stiletto. Like the singer, the song is a straight up hot mess of nonsense lyrics and poor execution. It plays like one merciless, unending verse, stuffed on top of a horridly outdated synth-tastic reinterpretation of the Sex and the City theme song.

Now I do have to give credit where it’s due and applaud Fergie, because she did manage to take both my love of high fashion and the Sex and the City series and craft them into the most horrifyingly repulsive of fashion related songs of all time. Now that’s high fashion.

It looks like Ms. Amniotic Sac is coming back into the spotlight this summer. After facing national scrutiny for a little radio interview comment, Kumi Koda is returning with a new single release for June. The single, entitled “MOON”, will be much like “4 HOT WAVE”, with four different songs within one release. One of those songs will finally feature the collaboration with Fergie Ferg that we saw her recording like two years ago, called “That Ain’t Cool”, as well as a video. Exciting.

After a national scandal which forced her to stray away from the music spotlight, chart topper Koda Kumi returns with her first single of 2008. Titled, MOON, the four track MAXI single is described as a “4 elements single” and will include a collaboration with American singer song-writer, Fergie, promoninent for her solo and group (with the Black Eyed Peas). MOON will be available in CD+DVD and CD-Only editions; also first press editions come with a bonus track. The first track, “Moon Crying”, will be used as “the theme song for the TV Asahi drama, PUZZLE, starring Ishihara Satomi” (Thanks, xxihiroxx!), while the third track “features PUSHIM and is described as “Lover’s Reggae”" (Thanks, MackeyHiromu!).
