kylieff Kylie Minogue Fans Unlock Orchestral Version of Finer Feelings

We did it, Kylie fans!

After successfully tweeting the hashtag #K25fans 25,000 times, Kylie fans have just unlocked the first gift from the iconic singer’s 25th Anniversary celebration: The orchestral version of “Finer Feelings”!

For those unfamiliar with the song–a lesser known musical offering by Mizz Minogue–”Finer Feelings” was produced by Mike Stock and Peter Waterman of the almighty power pop production troupe SAW. Released in April 1992 as a single off of her fourth studio album, Let’s Get to It, the song narrowly missed charting within the Top 10 in the UK (at #11), and became one of her lowest charting songs in Australia.

Still, I’ve always considered “Finer Feelings” one of Kylie’s more underrated numbers (and I know there are plenty of fans that would agree): The lyrics are brilliant (“But what is love without the finer feelings? It’s just sex without the sexual healing!”) and the melody is absolutely gorgeous, so it’s nice to see KM giving it the lovin’ it deserves.

But this version? This would stop anyone dead in their tracks. Such dramatic instrumentation, such spine-tingling vocals…just wow, wow, WOW! Chills all over the place. I’m thoroughly stunned!

And now, the Abbey Road orchestral rendition of “Finer Feelings”:

Here’s to a year of Kylie in 2012!

THIS IS AMAZING.

Sorry, but I just–I absolutely live for moments when pop ladies I love talk about other pop ladies that I love.

Australian Empress of Pop Kylie Minogue sat down for an in-depth interview with the Sydney Morning Herald’s Andrew Hornery prior to her induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame last night. At one point, she was asked to compare herself to another reigning pop diva: The one and only Madonna.

So sayeth the ever-ravishing KM:

I’m a massive Madonna fan. Absolutely. I’ve only met her briefly. We have some friends in common. A message will go back and forwards–she says ‘Hi’ or I say ‘Hi.’ How can you not love Madonna? I know she’s got a new album coming out and I hope she kills it. I want her to do really, really well. As a fan, I want some great Madonna music.

Awwwww! Yay! Kylie loves Madonna loves Kylie (and yes, we all knew that already.) The world is a better place.

Still, it’s so lovely to see a diva compliment a diva. For more of that (plus a healthy helping of shade on the side), you must check out Rich Juzwiak‘s (FourFour) essential new splice ‘n’ dice piece, “Divas on divas.” Brilliant, as always.

Yesterday night, Pop Princess, Mighty Aphrodite and Ultimate Disco Diva Kylie Minogue was formally inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame (that’s the Aussie equivalent for the Grammy’s for those unaware) for her contribution to the music industry over the past 25 years.

After a brief spell as a brunette earlier this month, the newly blonde and beaming pop princess accepted the award from music critic Molly Meldrum and Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard before delivering a loving, heartfelt speech thanking her family (Dannii‘s in the audience!), her management team and her tall drink of water of a boyfriend, Andres Velencoso and her fans for supporting her on her journey as an international pop superstar.

Please watch the full video below to see the entire acceptance speech. Absolutely gorgeous (as always)!

So, so proud of you Kylie!

f9e5953bfa9d57294290bf70d9027e69 Kylie Minogue Performs on X Factor Australia, Prepares Aphrodite Goddess Edition and Unveils New Logo

Buckle up baby, feel my speed…it’s time for a whirlwind Queen Kylie wrap-up!

First things first: Kylie took to Twitter earlier this morning to unveil the brand new logo to commemorate her 25th year in the industry (above). As you can see, it contains (A) razzle, (B) dazzle, and (C) enough sharp corners to poke your eyes out. Watch where you’re pointing that thing, KM!

The logo will likely come packaged along with Kylie’s upcoming acoustic/orchestral greatest hits collection due out in 2012, which she performed a taste of during EMI’s New Music Sessions a few weeks ago.

Earlier this week, the newly brunette disco diva appeared on the grand finale of X Factor Australia to perform in a mega Kylie mash-up with the 12 finalists of the competition.

More accurately, Kylie appeared onstage to perform a show-stopping rendition of “All The Lovers” after 12 randoms utterly butchered the shit out of her classics, “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” and “Better The Devil You Know.” Like, seriously painful. Thank God the Goddess was there to do the job properly!

Speaking of goddesses: Get excited (and start saving your pennies), super fans! After being announced way back in May, it seems the special Goddess edition of Mizz Minogue’s flaw-free 2010 collection Aphrodite is finally seeing the light of day!

Above is a full 2 1/2-minute page-by-page flip through the gorgeous Australia-only collector’s item (priced at a not-so-cheap $199) that was uploaded late last week, complete with full pop-up illustrations and behind-the-scenes sketches and photographs from the Aphrodite Les Folies Tour. I can haz for Hanukkah, plz?

VIVA LA MINOGUE!

matt irwin kylie Kylie Minogue to Release New Orchestral Album in 2012

Just can’t beat the feeling of a new Kylie album on the way!

Yesterday, the fierce ‘n’ flawless disco diva took part in EMI’s New Music Sessions, a special showcase for her label held at the legendary Abbey Road studios in London, where she performed “On A Night Like This” and “All The Lovers” with a 22-piece (!) orchestra. God, I wish I was there!

Along with the performance, Mizz Minogue revealed the reason behind all those mysterious tweets and TwitPics over the past few weeks: She’s recorded a new record! Well, not entirely new.

The upcoming collection will celebrate Minogue’s 25 years in the music industry, beginning with the release of her first iconic hit, “Locomotion.”

From Metro:

I’ve been at Abbey Road for about two weeks in total,’ she said.

‘Not just for this, I’ve been working on a project for next year. Next year’s my 25th anniversary so we’ve been recording acoustic and orchestral versions of a number of my hits.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this news: During an acoustic performance for BBC’s Radio 2 back in 2010, Minogue revealed that she was planning to craft an acoustic/orchestral album. Looks like the job’s now done!

Still no word on when the new album’s being released. For a taste of what’s to come, let’s watch Kylie’s orchestral performance of “Confide In Me” from the 2010 Radio 2 show. Stunning!

Marie Claire Magazine Jan 2011 dannii minogue 17375588 624 4161 Happy 40th Birthday, Dannii Minogue!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DANNII MINOGUE!

Thanks to my best buddies at Hard Candy Music for reminding me: Today is Dannii Minogue‘s 40th birthday. Incredible!

I’ve begun to wonder: What’s wrong with me? How on Earth could I nearly forget the birthday of my beloved “You Won’t Forget About Me” chanteuse?! Well, now I’m back in on the loop–and I don’t want to lose this feeling!

If you’re somehow not already familiar (I’m shaking my head so hard at you right now, seriously), Dannii Minogue is the flawless sister of flawless pop goddess, Kylie Minogue. But lest you think there’s any sort of sibling rivalry going on, fear not–they get along really well…

Dannii has brought us countless legendary tracks–from “Love & Kisses,” to “This Is It,” to “All I Wanna Do,” to modern smashes including “Put The Needle On It,” “Who Do You Love Now?” and “So Under Pressure.”

In March of 2003, Queen Dannii unleashed Neon Nights, an impeccable work of disco-pop genius from start to finish, and an album that remains one of my favorite records of all time. Neon Nights was also a key influence in founding MuuMuse, and remains one of my key go-to albums for working out and getting down. It’s an absolute must!

Though Mizz D has since gone on to become an incredibly successful TV talent and a powerful force in the fashion industry, I’ll always hold out hope for new music and remain a faithful fan of her most impeccable back catalog. Simply put: Dannii is the ultimate dance floor diva.

To celebrate the occasion, let’s go out with a vintage bang: “Success,” performed live in front of THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND at the Royal Variety Show in 1991. Could your faves ever be so funky fresh?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DANNII! WE LOVE YOU!
