No, not another “Wow” post. Well, sort of. The b-sides for Kylie Minogue’s newest single, “Wow,” have finally been given previews on 7Digital, so if you click here you can hear all three of them in their 30 second glory. “Cherry Bomb” sounds like the perfect accessory to Madonna’s Confessions On A Dance Floor, while “Carried Away” and “Do It Again” are regular ol’ smartly crafted, fast-paced electro tracks. All of which probably could have performed well on the album’s tracklisting, instead of being shelved to the second class “B-Side” category. I’m not bitter about it.

All I write about it Kylie lately. I swear, this is the last “Wow” post. At least until the bonus tracks leak, but at least they’ll deserve their own title. I mean, I don’t even like the single! But you have to give the people what they want, right? And by people, I mean a scattered few visitors. So finally, I present all of the “Wow” remixes, complete and zipped for your protection and pleasure. Like a Trojan.

Finally listening to the debut album of Madita, I completely take back any and all comparisons to the work of Feist. This is nothing like Feist. Her new single may have shards of folkishness, but if it is anything like her debut, it’s merely a speck of musical diversity found in the greater scheme of things. Madita’s self titled debut is an incredibly rich and varied jazz-tronica album, with tinges of Latin-based beats, lounge music, and bouncy trip-hop. Each track is pulls toward a new direction; there
are no common threads amongst the album’s tracks. Some feature Madita as a breathy lounge singer such as “Letter to You,” floating amongst liquid sound effect and ethereal landscapes. Then there’s “Monotony,” a track centered around hectic Latin-tinged trumpets and piano, never fully departing from jazz. Even more unexpected are Madita’s vocals in “Wannabe,” which very well could have been performed in the Noisettes’ set list, with its yelping, bitterly beautiful vocal stylings nearly identical Shingai Shoniwa. And then we have “Got,” which may have been recorded by RóisÃn Murphy during the Ruby Blue sessions. Her singing additionally bears resemblance to a less ambient Natalie Walker, and on the more trip-hop focused tracks, Angela McCluskey. Madita’s vocal ability is like a wonderful and unexpected mix of singers, meshed into one compilation. Her lyrical skills strangely work. I’m not sure if she fully grasps the English language (see phrases such as “steamy toilet”) but it nonetheless flows along with the song. The music itself is in the vein of Bitter:Sweet, but much less bouncy. This is the jazz record that Kylie always dreamed of recording. For those who don’t know, Kylie’s always dreamed about recording an album of jazz standards. This beat-heavy album is a perfect combination of pop with nu-jazz that would be utterly perfect for her to explore. It’s a musical style that I absolutely adore. Please give the selections a try!

Hope everyone’s having a lovely Sunday afternoon. Naturally, I’m feeling the dreaded gloom and doom that Sundays always seem to bring, so I’m doing the best to sh-sh-shake it off. And what better than my favorite U.K. pop act to begin with?
There’s a little snippet of a new Kylie remix floating around, thanks to the MuzicMatters forums. The MTSRKRFT (You may know the name from similar electro-crunch rock bands such as Justice) remix of “Wow” sounds like a brand new Kylie standard. It’s only 60 seconds, but you’ll get the gist. “Wow” is shaping up to be a stronger release for Minogue 1, despite the lead single’s inevitable inability to perform.

And this just in, the naughty nymph goes minimal 8-bit electro for the Fuck Me, I’m Famous! mix snippet.

Last night I went to bed after stumbling upon a little treat…now I’m waking up to another! Yes, I realize it’s 1 P.M. I had a long day of shopping, okay? You can’t just make that up with a few hours of sleep. Besides, I have to prepare my body for a long day of shopping. Oh, the perils of the collegiate lifestyle.
Anywho, looky what I found! Guess the tracklisting for the Promo CD was correct! The CSS mix is even more glittery and blippy than the original (with a hint of more retro styling), but the CSS Death Metal Disco Scene mix is pure love. The remix make Kylie sound like a shouty indie dance arist, completely reinventing the song’s construction. The radio edit is also naturally a bit different from the album version. None of any of this will reconcile the fact that this campy-ass track is being released but at least I can dream of future singles following this one.

Straight from the diva’s website: “Wow” will indeed be released with all the remixes I discussed…AND BONUS TRACKS. Don’t soil yourself, but with all the hoopla about Kylie working with Goldfrapp and Daft Punk, I can only hope that one of these tracks is the result of one of those collaborations!
‘Wow’ hits the shops in the UK on 18th February and will be available on CD, Maxi CD,12″ picture disc and digital download. The various formats will play host to a range of previously unreleased tracks – ‘Cherry Bomb’, ‘Do It Again’ and ‘Carried Away’ – as well as red hot mixes of ‘Wow’ from the likes of CSS, David Guetta and MSTRKRFT!
Yum, yum. Bring it on.
Psst…some sneak peek images from the set have surfaced. Unfortunately, they were posted on PinkIsTheNewBlog, resulting in obnoxiously large subtext. Open up the Read More to see.
Note: Big, sexy hair. “Red Blooded Woman” style, almost. Note the pink outfit peeking out of that robe from the sleeve. I had a bad flashback to the whole Confessions era with Madonna, but I know it can’t happen. It mustn’t.
Thanks to littledog334 on the SayHey forums, I’ve got the full HQ scans of the interview I mentioned yesterday with Kylie Minogue in the Herald Sun. She speaks of the album demos leaking early (she’s livid), the album collaborations (drama city), and the upcoming KylieX2008 Tour (everywhere but America.) Click the scans for the full size image.

After much debate, anger, and general hootenanny, the Kylie camp has finally released the specific details for the next releases by Ms. Minogue. It seems that TWO singles will be released, appeasing both the gays and the gayer gays. Club-happy “Wow” shall be released February 15th in the U.K., while ultra-gay, hands-in-the-air anthem “In My Arms” will be released throughout the rest of Europe.
The Herald Sun’s Cameron Adams interviewed Kylie and confirmed that the videos for the two singles will be shot in Los Angeles over this coming week. She said that “Wow” will contain a lot of neon (shocking.)
I don’t know if these are real, but if it is I’m rather excited. CSS? David Guetta? NICE.
