20 Ke$ha to Get Even Sleazier with Upcoming Sleazy Remix 2.0

For Britney, the bass keeps getting big-gah. For Ke$ha, the sleaze just keeps getting sleeeeazy-ah.

Though it’s been mostly quiet on the K$ front while the trash-pop princess spends her time laboriously recording her highly anticipated 2012 follow-up to Animal (read: busy making out with bearded truckers in the woods of rural Arkansas), K$ has decided to delight her loyal animals with a semi-brand new treat: A re-remix of “Sleazy”!

From Ke$ha’s official website:

Ke$ha takes “$leazy” to a whole new level with her “Sleazy Remix 2.0 Get Sleazier” featuring Lil’ Wayne, Wiz, T.I. and Andre 3000. This track will be released exclusively through iTunes on Dec 13th, so mark your calendars now and get excited!

The slow-grindin’, potty-mouthed Bangladesh-produced banga off of 2010′s Cannibal EP already got the remix treatment once back in January thanks to Andre 3000. Now, with new verses from Lil’ Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and T.I. thrown into the mix? Girl…it’s gon’ be one filthy gang-bang.

THE BEAT SO PHAT, GONNA MAKE ME COME…OVER TO YA PLACE!

“Sleazy (feat. Andre 3000)” was released on January 17. (iTunes)

tumblr lno834UDjL1qb118bo1 500 Introduucing...Lana Del Rey!

“I was born bad, but then I met you / You made me not so wild, but my dark side’s true,” Lana Del Rey sings in the first few seconds of the swaggering Spaghetti Western strum of “Kinda Outta Luck.”

And just like that, the 24-year-old New York-bred chanteuse–born Lizzy Grant–has already become of my most anticipated acts of 2011.

A self-described “gangster Nancy Sinatra,” the striking songstress certainly looks the part, evoking some of the silver screen’s most glamorous Femme Fatales, including the va-va-voom bombshell quality of Brigitte Bardot and the bold features of Angelina Jolie.

When she sings she only broods further, echoing the dramatic conviction and theatrical vibrato of a healthy helping of ’60′s chanteuses, including Marianne Faithfull, Nico and Dusty Springfield (and yes, Nancy Sinatra too).

“Think Nina Simone singing a Cat Power song over Lil Wayne‘s track,” she recently told Flush The Fashion in describing her sound.

But even if you remain dubious about her own self-analysis, a quick survey of the talent she’s working with in the studio certainly adds some credibility to her case, including Liam Howe (Cocknbullkid), Chris Braide (Will Young, Diana Vickers) and Emile Haynie (Tinie Tempah).

“Video Games” is Del Ray’s most most recent release, which just scored major exposure for the singer after being played during Fearne Cotton‘s June 30 show on BBC1.

The haunting devotional gently rises and falls with a kind of world-weary exhaustion and restlessness not unlike fellow brooding bombshell chanteuse Sky Ferreira, making what’s but a simple love-swept ballad on the surface sound more like the accompaniment to a funeral procession. “They say that the world was built for two / Only worth living if somebody is loving you / Baby now you do,” she sings mournfully, enveloped by violin strings and gorgeous harp plucks.

But apart from the twangy, badly behaved “Kinda Outta Luck” and the crushing balladry of “Video Games,” there’s material like “DIET MTN DEW,”, her most modern sounding attempt: “Do you think we’ll be in love forever? Do you think we’ll be in love?” she coolly croons above a swaggering, slow-skipping hip hop rhythm.

Just as with the first time I heard Florence + The Machine back in 2009, I’m utterly entranced by Ms. Lana Del Rey: She’s dark, she’s mysterious, and her music sounds like something Quentin Tarantino‘s already queuing up to include in the soundtrack in his next bloody vengeance epic.

“I heard that you like the bad girls / Honey, is that true?” she ponders during the chorus of “Video Games.”

You see that? She knows me too well already.

00 jennifer lopez love 2011 Jennifer Lopez: LOVE? (Album Review)

When Jennifer Lopez‘s “Louboutins”–an ode to the couture cobbler–was released to a less-than-tepid response in the last week of 2009, Lopez seemingly began to struggle to find her footing in the market (excuse the pun), eventually taking a leave from her longtime label Epic Records in 2010.

Yet only weeks after the announcement made the rounds, J-Lo was already busy inking a new record deal with Island Def Jam and preparing to fulfill her duties as a full-time judge on the tenth season of American Idol.

Only one year later, Lopez suddenly came roaring back onto the charts in the beginning of 2011 with the release of her first actual single from Love?: “On The Floor (feat. Pitbull),” a surprise smash hit for the singer that skyrocketed to #1 in over 19 countries (and counting!)

Now–after a few false starts, a label switch, and the birth of her twins Max and Emme comes LOVE?, the long awaited, oft-delayed seventh studio album by Jennifer Lopez, released on April 29.

kay Introduucing...Kay!

Genre: Dance-pop, electro
Sounds like: Ke$ha, Uffie, Jessie and the Toy Boys

Meet Kay, nee Kay Kristin Boutillier, the newest electropop princess on the block who already seems poised for world domination.

Kay first popped up on my radar just over a year ago, when her glitchy, ambient interpretation of Nancy Sinatra‘s classic “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” began circulating. Kay’s version featured an instrumental track sampling Lil Wayne‘s “Lollipop”–an unlikely pairing that reminded me of Sky Ferreira‘s similarly haunting “Happy Dre” mash-up.

A few well-chosen buzz tracks followed–including the swaggerific “M.A.J.O.R.”, produced by MuuMuse fave Doctor Rosen Rosen, a tongue-in-cheek cover of Justin Bieber‘s “Baby,” and a dance floor-ready collaboration with Tiesto titled “Work Hard, Play Hard”–but Kay really grabbed my attention with her official first single, “My Name is Kay.”

Penned with mega-hitmakers Ryan Tedder and Evan “Kidd” Bogart, “My Name is Kay” combines the contagious teen spirit of “Hollaback Girl” with the faux-gangster posturing that Ke$ha perfected with “Sleazy.”(Unsurprisingly, the track has already been championed by ArjanWrites and Perez Hilton.)

Better still than the studio version, though, might be Frankmusik‘s “Lost the Damn Gameboy” remix, which swaps the stop-and-go vibes of the original with a driving house beat.

Kay’s as-yet untitled debut album is due out via Interscope/Universal sometime this year.

kellyrowlandmotivation Kelly Rowland: Motivation (feat. Lil Wayne) (Video Premiere)

Kelendria Trene Rowland, maker of all music that is good, is back with a brand new single: “Motivation (feat. Lil Wayne).”

Unlike the last few David Guetta dance floor stormers, including “When Love Takes Over” and “Commander,” Rowland’s latest sees the songstress returning to her R&B roots, relying on a minimal icy beat to chill over her sex-starved croons.

Above is the newly released clip for the song, in which Rowland moans and groans about going longer and harder as she flaunts her luscious motivations all over an abandoned warehouse. (Why is the abandoned warehouse such a standard in pop videos?)

“Motivation” is a MuuMuse Approved boner jam for sure, proving yet again that there’s never been more of a need for Rowland’s oft-delayed third studio album than now.

“Motivation” will be released on April 12. (iTunes)

l cd9ea1676a704c54b714e7ffd49ab972 The Other Woman of Young Money: Introduucing...Shanell!

While Nicki The Ninja Lewinsky Harajuku Barbie Minaj may be getting all the glory as Young Money‘s reigning first lady, there’s another woman in the crew slowly preparing to have her turn at bat: Meet Shanell.

+ Shanell is a singer/songwriter under Young Money, and quite a good and versatile one at that.

+ She is the sister of former Danity Kane member D. Woods, high school friend of Bangladesh, and former back-up dancer for Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kandi Burruss. There is so much amazing in that sentence that I don’t even know where to begin. (SOURCE)

+ Her upcoming single (which I assume to be her official debut) is called “Substitute Lover,” off of her debut mixtape, Shut Up & Listen. She recently shot a video for the song.

+ “Substitute Lover” is an INCREDIBLE ’80′s-tinged dance-rock jam filled with spacey synthesizers and electro-deliciousness. While the bridge is already fantastic (“I guess I was his part time, some time / Meantime, in between time”), the chorus is an A-MAZING moment of shout-y brilliance that basically makes you want to jump and flail dance ALL OVER THE GODDAMN PLACE. I actually cannot get enough of this cut. (LISTEN)

+ She has written songs for many a pop act cherished ’round these parts, including Danity Kane (“Key To My Heart”) and 3LW (“Throwback”). She is also responsible for the irresponsibly good “Aww Shit” off of Kelis‘ 2006 record, Kelis Was Here.

+ Shanell is currently preparing her second mixtape in the studio, entitled Nobody’s Bitch. She’s also working on a debut album and is in final negotiations for a Spring 2011 tour with “a marquee pop artist.” Hmm.

+ The singer also goes by the nickname of “SnL,” which I imagine will prove entirely confusing if/when she ever does perform on the stage of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Not sure how I feel about it.

+ Aside from singing songs, Shanell also enjoys attaching metal things betwixt her nose and her ear in her spare time. This hasn’t been confirmed in a press release or anything–I’m merely making an assessment based on photographs and videos alone.

+ Here is a full song from her for your streaming/downloading enjoyment, entitled “Other Side.” The song features Lil’ Wayne and Ne-Yo, and is produced by one of the top pop producers of 2010, David Guetta.

As you can hear, “Other Side” is a throbbing, melodic dance floor haunt. I approve.

In conclusion: Shanell is chock full of potential, and I’m very excited to hear something from her in the upcoming year. In the meantime, I’ll be loving up her first mixtape. (LISTEN)

For more on Shanell (SNL), check out her official website or send her a tweet or two.

Oh my God, I can’t believe this exists.

Here now is the official video for Lil Wayne‘s “Knockout,” featuring Nicki Minaj.

In case my Muusers didn’t know, I lahhhv this song (because of Nicki, obviously). It also happens to be a song that I’ve spent one or ten nights recording myself lip-synching along to alone in my room. The nights can get lonely for me.

In case you aren’t already familiar with this song, fast forward to the two minute mark to experience the mind-blowing moment that is Minaj’s verse. Awwww, fuck it! My absolute favorite.

The video is a fairly low-budget effort (most likely due to its drop-everything-and-go video shoot done back in February when Wayne was still preparing to be sent off to jail), but it still features Nicki Minaj. And when you’ve got Nicki Minaj in a video, you don’t need anything else. Well, aside from a stash of colorful wigs.

NOW ROLL OUT THE ALBUM, ALREADY. GOD.
