The greatest part about the rapidly globalizing state of the music industry is that, thanks to the the Internet, music lovers worldwide have the ability to indulge in popular music from far-off territories while developing a strong kinship with fellow fans. The downfall, of course, is that no one else around you knows who the fuck you’re talking about.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven’t already: Meet Nadine Coyle.
Nadine is best known as one-fifth of a girl group called Girls Aloud.
A super slick, super chic powerhouse quintet originally formed during a UK reality singing competition called Popstars: The Rivals, the Almighty Aloud ruled the UK charts from 2002 to 2009 with their unique brand of edgy, glam pop cultivated and mastered by arguably the greatest pop writing and production troupe of all time, Xenomania.
From kicky drum & bass cuts (“Sound Of The Underground”) to lush disco gems (“Call The Shots”), the Aloud’s chart reign is–pardon the pun–untouchable, having already garnered over 20 Top 10 singles in a row (a Guinness World Record), five platinum selling albums (not to mention a greatest hits collection that went platinum thrice over), and legions of fans the world over. You know, like myself.
On Thursday evening, I somehow found myself sitting down on a bench, outside on a patio in a gorgeous Chelsea loft, with an eager Nadine Coyle sitting directly next to me. “You’ll have to forgive me, I’m trying to keep it together,” I said, nervously fumbling at my phone to start recording. “Oh, yar so togaythur,” she reassured me with her thick Derry accent, adding with a smile: “Ay would have no aydeyuh!”
As I looked down at my barely legible notes where scattered thoughts like “‘Graffiti My Soul’/Britney connection?” and “How are the Mist Burgers at Nadine’s Irish Mist?!” were frantically scribbled and squished together, I could only think to myself: What is my life right now?
Well, Madonna may not be working with RedOne anytime soon…but Cher is.
The legendary entertainer took to Twitter early Thursday morning to announce an exciting “secret” she’d been waiting all of forever to tell her fans:
Just walked in from studio ! I Finished 1st track on new cd &……..”GAGA ” ” YOU ARE THE GREATEST THING TO ME “
Naturally, the general response was universal: WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN, CHER.
After a few more minutes, the icon regained consciousness/someone on Team Cher took control of the bejeweled Blackberry clenched between her hands and finished the thought:
It’s not a duet ! Who knows ? I Did Hold her “Meat Purse” haha! One can wish! It’s one of her songs & she & Redone gave it to me 4 my cd ! Wait ! I would love duet with GaGa, but She Gave Me GREAT Song & I’m beyond Grateful!!!! It’s called ” The Greatest Thing “
So there you have it: Cher has recorded a song with RedOne. Penned by Lady Gaga. And guess what? You can already hear it now.
This Lady Gaga demo–originally dubbed “The Greatest”–first leaked on the web over a year ago. And as Cher originally tweeted, the song contains the phrase “You are the greatest thing to me.”
Admittedly it does sound very post-1998 Cher, what with the overly Auto-tuned vocals and all. But…is this a good enough song for Cher? Is this real life? What is love? (Baby, don’t hurt me.) Okay, so…but…
Like Lily said: I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore.
STOP EVERYTHING IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.
Madonna has begun recording her next studio album.
According to a tweet by manager Guy Oseary–which was gleefully retweeted by Kylie Minogue, causing a tidal wave of homosexual freak-out collectively known by scientists as a Gayphoon–Madge has officially stepped into the studio as of Monday, July 4.
As confirmed by Madonnarama (and my own little sources), the first producer on board for Project Madge 2011 is none other than Martin Solveig, the French DJ/producer responsible for such super-smash collaborations as “Hello (feat. Dragonette)” and “Ready 2 Go (feat. Kele).”
On Monday, the producer tweeted: “London – Production session today” on July 4, along with a photo of a mural featuring the words “Hey, Mr. DJ.”
TIME GOES BY…SO SLOWLY.

It was right after she first began posting demos on her MySpace–songs like 2007′s spacey “Surveillance” (which remains as next level today as it did the day she unleashed it upon the world), that I first took notice of Wynter Gordon, the 23-year-old underdog with a superstar’s worth of potential waiting to be unleashed each time she lays a pen to paper.
Just a few years after graduating from LaGuardia’s High School for the Performing Arts (alma mater of such notable acts as Kelis and Nicki Minaj), the young songstress had already notched herself a major writing credit with “Gonna Breakthrough,” a song from Mary J. Blige‘s Grammy Award-winning seventh studio album, The Breakthrough.
Ever since then, the co-writes and features (and unfortunately, the myriad leaks) only kept flowing for Wynter securing a spot on Danity Kane‘s 2008 sophomore record, Welcome To The Dollhouse (“2 Of You”), penning the impossibly catchy chorus of Flo-Rida‘s chart-topping 2009 radio smash “Sugar” and David Guetta‘s “Toyfriend,” joining The Freemasons on their essential 2010 summer jam “Believer” and, most recently, scribing three tracks off of Jennifer Lopez‘s stellar 2011 comeback record LOVE? including title track, “(What Is) Love?”
But despite all of her success as a writer, the song that truly launched Wynter as an artist in her own right was 2010′s “Dirty Talk,” a filthy-mouthed foray into kinky taunts and raunchy references to S&M above a dark disco beat that debuted nearly a year before Rihanna ever started crooning about her enthusiasm for chains and whips.
The song not only notched the singer’s first-ever #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play stateside, but kept her straddling Australia’s ARIA Chart at #1 for three weeks in January (and the duration of Australia’s summer season).
Now, nearly four years since she first started making ripples across the blogosphere and beyond, the Queens-born singer/songwriter has finally released her long-awaited, much delayed debut: The fabulously titled With The Music I Die.
STOP EVERYTHING IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.
Madonna, Queen of Pop, is returning to music according to Guy Oseary.
During a brief Twitter Q&A yesterday, the Holy Madge’s manager confirmed that Madonna would be headed into the studio “next month to begin work on new album…” He later revealed that she has “a good idea” of which producers she’d be working with, but declined to say what kind of music she’d be making…yet.
Rejoice, one and all: The messiah has returned.
NO, BUT SERIOUSLY: SIT THE FUCK DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP.
This is a fanmade remix of Britney‘s cover of Madonna‘s “Burning Up.”
Britney Spears – Burning Up (Nick Mixshow Edit) by adamo-filipe
The Godney vocal stems leaked in full, while the original music has not yet spilled. The mix above was crafted by frequent (unofficial) Brit Brit mixer, Nick.
I’m being told the track is to be an interlude from the upcoming Femme Fatale Tour.
THE HOLY MADGE AND THE HOLY SPEARIT: TOGETHER AGAIN AS ONE.
Tears in my eyes. It’s simply too beautiful. It’s just too much. I can’t. I’m actually dead writing this right now.
SIT THE FUCK DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP.
In case you haven’t noticed my flailing, an (alleged) 11-second snippet of Godney Spears covering The Holy Madge‘s legendary 1983 single “Burning Up” has just come up for air.
ARE YOU EVEN BREATHING RIGHT NOW? CAN YOU EVEN? Because I literally cannot. Can is what I cannot do.
This HAS to be real–those are unmistakably the fluttery croons of Queen B! She sounds so flawless and iconic. Imagine: The Princess and The Queen, united once again again by the Holy Spearit!
Please, dear sweet Pop Gods: Let this be used in the upcoming Femme Fatale Tour in some way! Studio version, PLEASE!!!
I AM DEAD.COM/BURIED.
Madonna‘s Confessions on a Dance Floor is one of the few records that truly changed my life.
As a result, I’m never one to shy away from a chance to mention that glorious, disco-encrusted masterpiece.
Since there’s never really a time where a Madonna remix isn’t called for, I present the Monsieur Adi remix of “Get Together”–a brand new re-rub of the song that found its way into my inbox earlier this morning (and appropriately appeared on HardCandyMusic yesterday!)
The Monsieur Adi mix of Madonna’s third single from Confessions takes the BPM of the original down considerably, glitching out Madge’s vocals and adding in slow waves of electronica, moody synthesizers and extra dramatic string flares. It’s a mesmerizing reinterpretation of the original, making Madge’s sad disco stormer sound miles more pensive and forlorn. I’m obsessed!
