alan nadine 446x251 The Great British Songbook: Nadine Coyle and Alan Carr Discuss Greatest Songs of the 00s for Radio 2.

Hey, Muusers…

So, I’ve unexpectedly fallen ill (I’ve been couch-bound all day–and I didn’t even drink last night!), but when I saw that this radio interview occurred, I knew that it was a perfect fit for the first post of 2010.

Click here to listen to Nuhdeen Coyle and Alan Carr tick off some of the greatest British songs of the Noughties for The Great British Songbook on BBC’s Radio 2 (It starts at the 18:30 mark).

Loads of great song selections, great dialogue between the two (Nuhdeen speak in full force!), and quite a few unexpected call-in guests, including Heidi Range, Adele, and Paloma Faith.

For Girls Aloud fans, NuhdeenNuts, and any and all Brit pop fanatics…this is a must listen. Trust me, it’s brightened my spirits, and I can barely move my body!

This evening, Cheryl Cole performed her debut single, “Fight For This Love,” for the VERY first time on live television.

Though she’s already been on tour with Girls Aloud for over seven years, performing live for hundreds of TV shows and arena concerts, there was just something about the fact that it was only Cheryl that made the moments leading up to her entrance as nerve-inducing as her very first performance on Popstars.

As we should have known, Cole handled it like the pro that she already is. Stepping off the stage as a judge and into the spotlight as a performer, the singer unleashed a stellar performance of “Fight For This Love,” suited in a slightly modified version of the military jacket from her video, a mesh top, and a pair of double-slitted black slacks.

Though her voice may have threatened to crack at times (whether it be result of the dance moves or that whole national audience viewing thing) she held on throughout, moving her way across the stage with a flank of soldier-dancers in tow.

However, it wasn’t until the song began to fade (and Simon began to stand) that the real “WOW!” moment began: As the music broke into a militant strut a la Rhythm Nation, Cole strutted it out for a brilliant, all-too-brief dance breakdown. The legs! The shimmying! That licky-hand-slap dance move! It was all she needed to do and then some; almost certain to secure her place at #1 this week.

Big love to the fact that Nicola, Kimberley, and Sarah were in the audience. I’m assuming Nuh-deen’s busy recording her own debut single right now out in L.A. or something. (Note: This is more of a dream than an assumption.)

And as for the main attraction, Miss Whitney Houston, who performed immediately after? Err, well…I’d rather not get into it out of respect.

sundaytimescheryl Cheryl Cole Does the Sunday Times

Read here.

For everything you ever wanted to know and more about Cheryl Cole, I highly suggest the cover story that just ran in today’s Sunday Times Magazine. Take it all with a grain of salt though…the writer clearly has a massive lady hard-on for Chezza.

At the very least, give it a read for the completely gratifying sentence that mentions Nuhdeen‘s plans to do a solo album too. Mmm…

994aff67e653773a142ef047877bb8e5 Introduucing...The Dolly Rockers!

Thanks to Muuser Jordan, I have officially hopped on board the Dolly Rockers train. You’ll have to forgive me for not falling in line sooner–I figured they were some sort of Dolly Parton revivalist committee.

They’re not.

Instead, these girls are the sluttier, drunker version of Girls Aloud if more-than-halved, given the va-va-voom hair stylings and out of control addictions of a restrained Amy Winehouse, and a Borat-esque ability to shamelessly perform their clownery in public.

I mean, just look at the video they slapped together for their Spice Girls-esque silly fest, “Je Suis Une Dolly.” They’re doing silly jigs in floofy dresses right in the metro for God’s sake!

Plus, they make really fun series of “how-to” videos on YouTube, including a rather informative bit on how to get that big hair look. You’ll need to check out this masterpiece immediately.

But the track that made me fall for them–really, really, fall for them–is a little ditty called “Champagne Shirley.” Like the Hustler version of the Aloud’s “Racey Lacey,” the D. Rockers lay down the line against some big-breasted bimbo and her high fashion follies. Greatest line ever? “She wears haute couture–what the FOOK DOES THAT MEAN?!”

Oh yes, and this brilliant profile from The Times Online, which is just as much of a treat to read. Here’s a choice moment:

Oblivious to it all, Brooke Challinor, Lucie Kay and Sophie King burst into the dining room like three ASBO Alices trying to blag their way into Wonderland. They are — in a way that only three 20-year-old women dressed in sequins, stockings, fish-net tights, ribbons and comically small bowler hats can be — quite terrifying.

PLUS, they’ve publicly, unabashedly told off The Saturdays several times! WHAT MORE COULD YOU POSSIBLY ASK FOR. Nuhdeen, consider this band as openers for your massively successful solo career, will you?

While you’re at it, go ahead and grab a free download of the Dolly Rockers’ “Je Suis Une Dolly” right here.

There now–you’ve been officially Dolly Rockered.

I know, I know…Girls Overboard lately. I can’t help it.

First of all, The Aloud kicked off their Out Of Control Tour last night in Manchester.

Below is the opening of the show. I must admit, it does not seem to top the splendor that was the opening to the Tangled Up Tour. (What could, really?)

Also a bit too similar to the Return of the Spice Girls Tour for my liking.

And now for “Womanizer.” Look at Nuhdeen and her puppet on a string!

Next is the release of “Untouchable,” meaning that the various b-sides and bonus mixes have leaked; the most joy inspiring of which being the Thriller Jill remix of “Love Is The Key.” It’s stompier, spirited, and miles ahead of the original.

DL: Girls Aloud – Love Is The Key (Thriller Jill Remix)

OH. And then there’s the matter of the Singles Box Set, a drool-worthy collection of all 20 (21?) of the Aloud’s Top 10 singles with B-sides, artwork, and a rarities CD.

ALL IN A MASSIVE COLLECTORS TIN.

Needless to say it’s been pre-ordered already.

Interesting that they’ve got “Untouchable” listed on the tracklisting already, as it doesn’t even come out until April 27. Even more entertaining? The fact that they’ve already decided it will peak at #10.

Erm…If you say so, Fascination!

With the recent news of Cheryl Cole‘s plan to record a solo album following the closure of the Aloud‘s Out Of Control Tour, I thought I’d put together my thoughts regarding the possibility for each Aloud’s individual successes if they were ever to go solo.

(Let’s face it, we have to do something to pass the time until the debut of Sophie Ellis-Bextor‘s video for “Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer.”)
