It’s the freakin’ weekend, Muusers…So why not offer up some of the finer remixes strewn throughout my mailbox? Away we goooo!
First, the Magnetic Route Mix of Saint Etienne’s “Method Of Modern Love.” The revamp issues a fairly minimal retouching, including some darker flares of bass and a series of saltshaker synths in place of the brighter notes. Still, it’s worth a go!
Then there’s the DJ Chernobyl mix of N.A.S.A.‘s “Whatchadoin?” which–as evidenced through a couple past posts (do not miss the immense Villains remix, whatever you do)–is becoming quite the remix-friendly fixture here at MuuMuse. Chernobyl’s re-mash caters to the Arular-hearted fans longing for some of that good ol’ baile funk at it’s best. Seriously, slip this one in between horn-heavy groovers like “Bucky Done Gun” and “10 Dollar” and you’d never notice the difference. Ahh, the good old days…
And finally, we have the Kim Fai mix of Ladyhawke‘s smash single, “Paris Is Burning,” a lush and building minimally moody re-rub that somewhat calls to mind the Bill Hamel remix of Britney‘s “Touch Of My Hand.”
Look–it’s not like I’m trying to reference Brit Brit in every post. It’s simply within my nature.
Deal.

One mix is never enough…And so I bring you a MuuMuse Excluusive.
For some strange reason, the producer behind the incredible BitchSLAPhappy remixes decided to fulfill my request for a slamming remix of Saint Etienne‘s new single, “Method of Modern Love.”
Here are the results.
Not only are the scattered, skittering electro-euphoric pipe beats as juicy as I’d hoped, but the track breathes new life into the very phrasing of the verses.
Make sure to play this one the whole way through, as the track lifts off to another level by the four minute mark. Trust me.
It is–as my grandmother would often say–off the motherfucking chain.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Muusers!
On this Holiest of Days, let us reflect upon to the timeless words of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who I believe once said: “Two hearts are beating together, I’m in love (ah-woo), I’m in love (ah-woo).”
As a reminder…Please, please, please don’t do anything stupid tonight. If we’re to learn anything from our celebrity brethren, it is the value and sanctity of the almighty safety word. Myself? I like “Cantaloupe.”
(Note: Not to be confused with the phrase “Can’t Elope,” a signal to slowly rise up from your kneeling position and return the ring still hidden in your left pocket tomorrow. She totally wasn’t the one for you, anyway. I mean, honestly…Who smells that way in the morning?)
Okay, that’s it. Have fun!
Oh, and if you haven’t already, send an e-mail to me at muumuse@gmail.com with the subject line “I Love Mariah!” to enter the MuuMuse Loves Mariah contest for her new album, The Ballads! You’ve got til’ midnight, bitches.
Much love, amor, and voulez-vous coucher avec moi to you all.
AND DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR ME.

With what appears to be the greatest single of 2009*, Saint Etienne has returned to the dancefloor with “Method of Modern Love,” the Richard X-produced lead single from their upcoming compilation album, London Conversations: The Best of Saint Etienne. The group has been dangling song samples in front of their fans’ salivating faces for weeks now, but only now we can finally experience the full release.
That should have been worded differently.
*As of today.
Anywho, here are just some of the features of this track, which can be officially dubbed as “brillz”:
+ A proper ‘disco beat.’
+ Echoey bits.
+ The line “shot with a bolt of blue,” which may very well stem from classic New-wave favorite, New Order‘s “Bizarre Love Triangle.”
+ Sounds a bit like Kylie‘s “The One” (otherwise known as Perfection.)
+ A solid middle eight, featuring the greatest spell-out of “love” since Ashlee Simpson‘s “L.O.V.E.”
Buy it now!

filed under: Annie, Blondie, Datarock, Girls Aloud, Richard X, Saint Etienne, Timo, Xenomania
Thanks to PopJustice!, we now have a smattering of information regarding my favorite indie-electro, bubble-gum pop blonde star from Norway’s second release. You can read the full write-up directly from the site, or savor these deliciously summarized bullet points:
+ The new album will be called Don’t Stop.
+ She has collaborated with Xenomania, Timo, and Richard X over the past year for production.
+ Xenomania-produced “My Love Is Better” is a sure-fire hit single featuring the ladies of Girls Aloud. The song sounds like the Aloud’s “Long Hot Summer” and “You Freak Me Out.”
+ “Sweet,” another Xenomania creation, is another big one.
+ The one I’ve been dying to hear, merely for its name (“Songs Remind Me Of You”) will be finally unveiled.
+ There’s a song called “Loco” which channels some Blondie and features some silly lyrics.
+ “Heaven & Hell” sounds like Saint Etienne and features some sassy lyrics.
+ The album also features a fair share of slower, experimental tracks.
+ “When The Night” is Annie’s first power ballad.
+ “Marie Cherie” proves that Annie’s got some troubled thoughts.
+ “Take U Home” is a “gothic n’ ghostly electro-ballad.” Sounds like the theme song to my life, am I right?
+ “Misery” is another track off the album that is amazing.
+ And finally, a tracklisting (tentative):
2. Loco
3. Sweet
4. My Love Is Better
5. Marie Cherie
6. Take U Home
7. When The Night
8. What Do You Want (Breakfast Song)
9. Bad Times
10. Heaven & Hell
11. Perfectly Honest
12. Songs Remind Me Of You
13. Misery (Duet w/ Frederick from Datarock)
+ Annie doesn’t know how to count, as evidenced in her 10-12 track skip on the PJ page. Stop fucking with my mind, woman.
In retrospect, I really could have linked that article and saved myself the fairly redundant posting of information. I forgive myself.
