033 Selena Gomez: A Year Without Rain (Video Premiere)

I am such a Selena Gomez fan.

Above is the brand new video for her upcoming single, “A Year Without Rain,” the title track off of her upcoming sophomore album with her band, Selena Gomez & The Scene.

I’m loving the song, I’m loving the video. There’s nothing new or revolutionary here–she’s just standing around in a desert. BUT THAT’S WHAT THE SONG’S ABOUT. I do love the inevitable rain bit at the end–shades of Britney‘s “Stronger” without a doubt, and all done in a classy manner. She is, like, 12 after all.

I do believe that Mizz Gomez is about ten steps ahead of every other Disney chick in the industry. She carries with her an actual air of class, making me think she may actually make something of herself beyond her time with the network.

Now roll out the remix package, please!

The single will be released on September 7, followed by the release of A Year Without Rain on September 21.

Selena Gomez just posted the official album cover to her upcoming sophomore effort, A Year Without Rain.

I, like my dear friend Prophet, find myself stanning so hard for this Disney debutante.

I just want her to WIN. She’s like a mini Ellis-Bextor-to-be in my eyes.

A Year Without Rain will be released on September 21.

And now, the video premiere for Selena Gomez‘s “Naturally,” a song I recently decided was actually quite good.

The video isn’t plot-heavy by any means, but it’s still a polished, sleek production. Again, I approve.

More importantly–it looks like we’ve got a mini Sophie Ellis-Bextor on our hands, doesn’t it? And I guess that Hilary Duff reference in my song review wasn’t all that off for the video treatment either.

Work it, Selena!

selena Selena Gomez Premieres New Single, Naturally, Continues to Keep it Classier Than Miley.

I have to say, out of all the Disney brats on the scene these days, Selena Gomez is, by far, better than the rest.

Not only is she much more vocally intriguing than her attention grubbing, pole riding, Jesus’ name-inciting, “I’m not Pop” pop contemporaries unearthed from the forsaken depths of Tennessee (not naming any names)…but she’s a cutie pie to boot!

As a result, when I received an e-mail from her PR, I said to myself, “Self, let’s give this a listen.”

So I did. And you know what? It’s not half bad! Sure, it’s quite a healthy dose of super-squeaky-clean pop, but then again, who am I to judge? I love this shit! It sounds like something off of Hilary Duff‘s fabulously underrated release, Dignity. Oh, and that “Bay-bay-bay-bee” bit at the end of the chorus? Love it!

Without trying to start any drama however, I must point out…the verses sound exactly like Smiley Miley‘s “See You Again.” Just listen to that guitar strum at the song’s opening!

“See You Again” is an objectively excellent pop song, so there’s no use complaining about it, but it was just too glaring not to point out…ANYWAY!
