16a658fbbf551fd6c9e9c406fc174f20 Weapon Of Massive ConsumptionThe O.G. of bitchy, internet UK celebrities, Lily Allen herself has posted double demos on her MySpace page today. After just one day, she’s already got around 30,000 listens for each song. The first, “I Don’t Know,” is a sarcastic take on the lifestyles of the rich and plastic. Shame, I thought she was being serious initially. Dozens of points awarded for the phrase used in this post’s title, as well as “fuckloads of diamonds.” I love this song, truly. It’s both lush and cheeky, which are two of the most prized traits of pop. Take note of the photo as the album cover: Rachel Zoe. Ha. Ha.

“I Could Say” starts out with a warm piano melody. It’s very Kate Nash, though that sort of comparison is a bit redundant. The separating factor is the gradual introduction of trippy, synth beats that increasingly overwhelm the track. Not only that, but the vocals start to slip into lushness as well. It’s beautifully layered, and rich. It’s almost Imogen like, which is a real treat.

A wonderful start to whatever comes next, Lily.

In case some of you Muusers might have noticed, the download links accompanying the latest reviews have been removed. It’s not an accident. I’ve decided that downloading will no longer be a feature of MuuMuse. And by that, I mean MuuMuse is back to where it should be–barely legal and ready to mingle.

That being said, it’s time for Clay Aiken, with his latest single, “On My Way Here,” off of an upcoming album sharing the same name. Okay…re-hinge your jaw. I know. He’s a giant douche nozzle. And yes, the album cover is atrocious (I’m seeing Cyndi Lauper). But above it all, he’s a wonderful, if at times indulgent crooner, and his music happens to resonate quite well with me.

This new single is written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, the shifty band that did the obnoxious collaboration with Timbasuck you’ve heard relentlessly played on Top 40 radio stations and as the ringtone for that girdae6c6a5cece9958f34dba2cc40929b0 On His Wayl no one really likes in English class called “Apologize.” What? You have it as your ringtone? Well, I mean…I didn’t mean it like that. It’s got a nice refrain and it’s very catchy. Is it…is it too late to apologize?

The minor problem is that Clay’s gone and taken the melody off of his album track “I Survived You” from 2003′s Measure Of A Man. Since that’s one of my personal favorites, I didn’t mind it so much. But considering it’s been five years, I would have expected a bit more diversity. Then again, I’m not sure of when I started expecting anything from Clay Aiken. In fact, I wasn’t really sure he was still releasing this until now.

The production is quite schlocky and over-the-top, but if you’re listening to Clay Aiken, you’re not in this for booty beats and hand claps. So take a breather from the synth surges at the discotheque and relax a bit. Let it soothe you, unapologetically. You deserved it.

Clay’s new single “On My Way Here” is due to drop on May 6, before the release of his next studio album, On My Way Here.

What kind of fuckery is this?

It’s the new promotional video for Kylie Minogue‘s “All I See,” the rapidly flopping single released in North America. I’m not sure why this is happening–it’s like some sick game that no one is truly a part of. So let’s see:

+ She’s talking to a somewhat fit man’s tattooed back.

+ She’s got some truly dramatic eye makeup happening, which is nice. The dominatrix outfit is also a winner…I approve.

+ She occasionally appears to be channeling the glittering love child of her own outfit from “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” and the Diva from The Fifth Element. You know, the blue one.

+ She still likes headphones, microphones, and I’m going to assume she’s still into the speakerphones. (HINT TO KYLIE CAMP: RELEASE “SPEAKERPHONE”.)

+ Not much else. Please let this be a backing video to the KylieX2008 Tour, and not an actual video.

I’d complain further, but no one asked for a video. I’d like to go the clichéd “we should be thankful” route, but sometimes less is so much more.

5d36e9c453ded2fbde41b6e750e903eb Introducing...Carolina LiarIf you happen to watch The Hills, you may have noticed Heidi Montag‘s fat head. But more importantly, you may have also noticed that the show features some pretty decent music from time to time. Carolina Liar is no exception. The new band’s sound is sort of like a more laid back, Californian spin on the music of The Killers. I’m actually quite digging “I’m Not Over,” the lead single from the band. It’s a fast paced, riffing track…nice and summery. It borders on Daughtry territory at times, but luckily, I think it manages to turn itself upright. You can check out the video below!

The real selling point here though is “Show Me What I’m Looking For,” their second single. It’s an absolutely epic, rocking tune that sort of makes you feel like you’ve accidentally walked into that Christian revival going on in town. But trust me, it’s the sound that’s religious, not the message.

2ef1beda63d690ac9dd962dd5d5a6e90 Little Bright LightsInfernal just doesn’t know when to quit…Thank God. They’re coming back this year after a brief hiatus from the release of mega-smash, essential pop fest of an album, From Paris To Berlin. The songs from that album plagued my playlists from 2004 to 2006, and I only recently began to come down from their infection.

Now, with a triumphantly over-the-top organ introduction, Infernal returns to us with “Downtown Boys,” the first single from the upcoming Electric Cabaret, due out late in 2008. It’s quite euro-dance, high energy, and all around Infernal. Not as big as “From Paris To Berlin” or “I Won’t Be Crying,” but still enough to motivate some movement.

Make sure you check this one out, I’m sure it’s a sign of things to come. To hear Infernal’s past hits, check out their MySpace here!

As my fellow bloggers have been getting in a tizzy about, the unstoppable Donna Summer is back once more this year. She returns with “Stamp Your Feet” from her newest album, Crayons, certainly one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

The new single is very Cher meets Gwen‘s “Hollaback Girl.” Which, when you think about, is quite brilliant, really. The chorus is an attitude-heavy, hands-up fierce fest that doesn’t sound dated in the least. Instead, as the reigning Queen of Disco, Summer proves that she’s still got the finger firmly placed on the dancefloor pulse. She’s still making you move, whether you’re riding your E trip at the local gay bar, grooving in your office cubicle during work hours, or dance/crying in your underwear alone in your room. Get this one.

Well, look! It’s the comeback single of Zac Efron‘s lady friend Vanessa Hudgens, called “Sneakernight”! There’s two things I refuse to accept here: The song’s title, and her supposed relationship with Zac Efron. Anyway, make way for the footwear, because here it is!

Now there’s a song that truly sounds entirely fresh.

ab8ba8419e7016259ab3e9a8cdd09c46 Officially Look everyone, it’s Cassie, the R&B one-or-two time dark dancefloor sensation responsible for the major hit “Me & U” and mini-hit “Long Way 2 Go” two years ago!

Yep, she’s back. And this time, she’s in the hands of Danja and The Clutch with “Official Girl.” It’s a little mid-tempo ditty that never really builds anywhere, although its disjointed flow is ultimately quite addictive. Points have been awarded for the rhyming of “ultimatum” with “verbatum.” Go ahead and grab it, and let’s remember once more why we fell in love with this Connecticut-bred Abercrombie bag model.
