Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...
Just a few minutes ago, Solange Knowles uploaded a sick, soulful song onto her blog. The song, entitled “Under Construction,” was recorded over an instrumental by Thievery Corporation, and is available for download (as you can see below). It will not be on her upcoming album.
She tweets:
Since many of you are requesting new music, gonna put out a song i did for fun(WONT BE ON THE ALBUM!) over Thievery Corporation instrumental.
Amazing, truly.

STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING. There’s BoA news on the horizon!
First off, the singer confirmed at the MTV Japan Video Music Awards the third single off of her eponymous debut album will be “Energetic.” A choice track, considering I’ve already established the choreography for this number in my bedroom months ago. I’m looking forward to another fierce ass video, but this time…more fans!
Additionally, BoA will be headlining the San Fransisco Pride 2009 (RIGHT AFTER SOLANGE KNOWLES!) on Sunday, June 28. Look at BoA embracing her gays! Love it. If you don’t recall, this was also the venue that Lady Gaga tore up last year when I was still going gaga for Gaga. My how times have changed…sort of.
And, if you’re somehow not in the loop and have no idea who I’m talking about, you may want to consult the interview I did with the GLOBAL. SUPERSTAR. in March.
Click here right now to watch Solange Knowles‘ f-l-a-w-l-e-s-s reinterpretation of Sia‘s gorgeous track “Destiny,” recorded with Zero 7. (Click Videos, then “Destiny” under performances.)
I’ve got it strictly on repeat.
Such lush vocal delivery! Studio version PLEASE.
Well, this was a surprise! I came into listening to the first single from baby B‘s second album, “I Decided,” with lower expectations and a high preparedness for nausea inducing vocal works. But wait…what’s this?
Far from the searing style of her sister, Solange‘s song is a nice, refreshing nod to the Motown era. The verses are straight out of the pop classic, “Heatwave,” and the chorus is a lazy, loungey breeze of air. All in all, I found no booties a’ poppin’, dresses a’ freakumin’, or even alarms a’ ringin’. Just a bit of good ol’ croonin’.
