Sophie Ellis-Bextor‘s been busy lately. If she isn’t too occupied poppin’ em out two months before their due date, she’s off releasing singles from all directions.

Well, not entirely: Previously recorded collaborations is slightly more accurate.

Two days ago, the Freemasons announced on the MySpace that their next official single will be “Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer,” an immense, dark disco Bextor collabo many have already deemed quite worthy of following up her last release, Trip The Light Fantastic.

What we didn’t already know is that the song, which first made rounds around Fall of last year, was actually a demo. In fact, the boys are still working out a final version at the moment! With any luck, they won’t glitch and glam it up too too much, seeing as the mix we’ve been given has already set the blogosphere ablaze.

Additionally, Bextor’s collaboration with French DJ Junior Caldera, “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” is about to see a proper release sometime in March. To hear the original version, click here.

The pros?
It sounds a bit like the Paul Oakenfold edit of Madge‘s “Give It 2 Me” in places, Kaskade in others, and includes the line “I just can’t fight this feeling…We should be lovers, we should be lovers.”

And as for the cons?
A bit generic.

Nonetheless, I look forward to the Glorious Re-Uprising of the Great Mizz Bextor.

0c341205d914521c33695eb657adefe5 Ferry Corsten: Black VelvetI’m in the process of listening to Ferry Corsten‘s fabulous new album, Twice In A Blue Moon, but I had to stop and post about the second track off the CD.

Already, Corsten’s struck gold with “Black Velvet,” in all its creamy, synth deliciousness. The vocals melt atop the backing track with a degree of timed temptation, dripping and drifting along glittery synths as the mystery songstress purrs, “How could I know I’d dream for this? How could I know I’d die for this?” Slightly innocuous, though entirely sinister, “Black Velvet” oozes with sensual seduction. I’d kill for Britney to do a track like this (that whispered “Black Velvet” at the beginning is pure Spears), though the vocals seem more suited for a Dannii or Annie production…Or Sophie, now that I think of it, that deadpanning diva.

For the record, the middle eight is briefly massive. Any repetition of any word over five times is an immediate cry for perfection…This track fares no differently.

So kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss me tonight. Stellar.

I had heard rumblings of some indie film spot that Sophie Ellis-Bextor had been involved in a few weeks ago. Turns out, the rumors were true…Quite unfortunately. In association with MySpace and M.A.C. Cosmetics, the story line (from what I’ve gathered on the official website, not my actual understanding) is that of a tragic pig-man that wreaks havoc on a town at night, kidnapping women for their precious high heeled shoes. Yep.

Perhaps I’m missing the genius here, or maybe I’m not cool enough to “get” it, but I’m fairly secure in my belief that this among one of the worst things I’ve seen all week. It ruined my night. And yes, I’m including the latest Heidi Montag video in my sentiments. Seriously…this is some truly pitiful stuff! The acting is sub-par, the plot absolutely nonsensical. I get the idea of bad movies being bad for the sake of being so, but this just goes above and beyond. It’s more than Reefer Madness remake bad. It’s worse! This is like a B-grade rip off of a John Waters reinterpretation of The Forbidden Zone. Absolutely abysmal, lacking in hilarity and entertainment in its entirety.

Click above to watch “The Town That Boars Me,” a short film by Ben Charles features Kelly Osbourne, Sadie Frost, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natt Weller, Jodie Harsh, Zandra Rhodes, Andrew Logan and Dee C Lee.

I defy you not to lose interest halfway through. Bextor looked nice, though.

Sorry lovelies, I’ve been busy unearthing treasures from dozens of bags as I continue to settle into my new apartment. But alas, I have returned. Naturally, the process has caused quite a bit of stress (so much wall space, so little poster tape), but I am carrying on like a trooper. So what’s been going on lately?

Rihanna decided to incorporate O-Zone‘s “Dragostea Din Tei” into her latest collabo with rapper T.I. for a song called “Livin’ Your Life.” The result is quite shit, though it’s nice to see that RiRi is still showing some love to all things Euro. That being said, it’s still shit.

I’ve been in an heavy though inexplicably Sophie Ellis-Bextor mood lately. Perhaps it’s the dryness of the new apartment, but I’ve really been longing for that British tart’s moody mumblings. She’s been busy recording, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s next. For now, let us catch the girl boo-gee at her prime:

Mike Rizzo‘s mix of Lindsay Lohan‘s Bossy has finally arrived, and it is delightful, summer fun. I’m a fan.

I’m beginning to deeply disengage from the Gagasphere. Not only do all of her songs sound exactly the same, but I’m starting to realize the similarity between her voice and Aguilera‘s, which is a very, very unappetizing circumstance. That, and the production feels pretty cheap. Here she is with the New Kids On The Block for “Big Girl Now,” off of their soon to be released fifth album.

Sorry, but I had to do this one at some point. It’s Sophie Ellis-Bextor‘s greatest hit of all time, 2002′s “Murder On The Dancefloor” from her album Read My Lips.

Honestly, I could listen to this track day in and out and I would simply not tire from listening. Weaving together Bextor’s signature piss off, deadpan delivery, a sprinkling of sinister lyricism, and a glittering disco undercurrent, the track is perhaps one of the few truly quintessential tracks to define my musical taste.

Accordingly, the accompanying video succeeds in capturing that essence. Bextor plays the perfect cruel heroine, sabotaging her way through a somewhat lackluster dancing competition by buttering up the judges, the camera, and…the dancefloor. It’s a fun romp brought on through calculated bitchiness that Bextor truly wields to her advantage. I love it, I love it, and I still can’t get enough. What can I say? She kills me! Har har har.

Welcome back to the real world, Muusers. I hope you’ve all had a smashing weekend. I myself took an extended vacation into NYC, living la vie Bohème as I oft do, smoking hookah by day and selling my naughty bits by night. Don’t remember a second of the trip, but I’m sure I’ve had myself a blast. I’ve also got a tattoo of a baby llama. Not sure what that one’s all about.

And so, what have we come back to on this sunny, boring Monday morning?

madonna sidex ReanimationMost prominently, the follow up video for Madge Padge‘s latest single, “Give It 2 Me.” Warner’s been blocking the YouTube uploads like mad, so you’ll have to make your way to Perez to see the thing in its full, multi-colored glory. I don’t have anything negative to say about it, per se. It’s somewhat visually captivating, featuring M-Dolla in a wide array of high class get-ups and intruiging vintage sets. She certainly works the camera well, especially when she steals an intimate moment with an oversized lamp.

Really though, this is just a video montage of an extended photoshoot. See the picture to the left? Just…repeat it across the screen in a multi-colored, high energy fashion. There are some neat pop art effects that offer brief moments of , but it’s otherwise a meaningless promotional material rather than a story or concept. Not bad, but not worth a second glance.

Riri‘s re-reasing her Good Girl Gone Bad album this summer, which was one of the best releases of 2007, just below Girls Aloud and Britney. Most of the additions to the tracklisting are a bit shit, except for “Disturbia,” the über vocoded up-tempo stomper that most bloggers have been blubbering about worldwide. Is it this year’s “Umbrella”? Probably not, but then again, when I first heard “Umbrella” last March, I didn’t think it was going to be last year’s “Umbrella” either.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, creator of an album with one of the greatest names ever (see: Trip The Light Fantastic), has proven me wrong and proven to remain rel2bf331bde3e4f82e01178cd9da8fe780 Reanimationevant by posting two new songs on her MySpace, “Off & On” and “Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer.” The first one sound familiar? That’s because it’s the same Calvin Harris produced song that Róisín Murphy chose to chuck off of her brilliant album, Overpowered after “creative differences.” A pop sham? Of course! One of the finest tracks of the past year, hands down. It was naturally quite thrilling to hear that there was another version floating around! Sophie’s natural, unaffected spin on the track is refreshing…especially her accent. Gotta love that reworked ending, as well. “Heartbreak…” too is wonderful, if a bit lacking. I wish it were Dannii Minogue on this one, personally.
