I’m so proud!
Tonight, Ellie Goulding performed live for the first time ever on national television–on Later…With Jools Holland no less.
Though the event was somewhat uncalled for (the single’s not even been released yet, and she’s never actually released anything otherwise), Goulding kept it simple in what was a visibly nerve-ridden, yet ultimately satisfying live rendition of her debut single, “Under the Sheets.”
The drum and cymbal surely provided a good way to dispel the nervous energy; having Starsmith, the song’s producer, standing behind her no doubt helped as well.
Job well done, Ellie!
STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING RIGHT NOW…
…and listen to Ellie Goulding‘s contender for Single of ’09. I’m not lying to you.
“Under the Sheets,” produced by the increasingly magnificent Starsmith, is a truly fresh breath of electronica-infused air.
“We’re under the sheets, and you’re killing me,” Goulding’s fluttery vocals plead atop a thick slab of synthesizers, twinkling bells, and throbbing drum pulsations. The lyrics are spot on; the music lush: “Sheets” demands to be put on loud repeat, again and again and once moreover.
Ten million and three thanks to Neon Gold, one of the coolest blog-labels around for providing the track and Chemistry Is Dead for cluing me in about its release.
Like all the boys before, like all the boys before…

Ellie Goulding, another member of my “Big In ’09″ bunch, has uploaded a new Starsmith-produced track to her MySpace called “Swimming Pool.”
It’s cute, and like Goulding said in her bulletin, it’s got “a feel good thing about it.”
True that.

Craving some more Vincent Frank, anyone?
After striking up a friendship over the past few months in their South London stomps, Frankmusik and Starsmith have concocted a little something: “Mrs. Jeckyll And Hyde.”
The three-minute concoction is a giddy offering, bouncing along as though constructed atop a candy-coated Casio keyboard. Though it may prove too sweet for some, the crunchy beats concocted by Starsmith prove to offer some frenetic fun, all the while allowing Mr. Frank to weave his falsetto way around the woes of a multi-mooded lover.
Dig in!
