Clinton Sparks, JoJo & and DJ Eye.
Merry Friday, Muusers!
Radio DJ/producer Clinton Sparks has teamed up with drunk-pop purveyors LMFAO and the baddest chick in the game (JoJo) for an almighty new club anthem: “Sucks To Be You.”
While the bass-blasting beat isn’t all that different from your standard fist-pumping club affair a la Taio Cruz, Usher or Enrique Iglesias, “Sucks to Be You” benefits from a few extra cutting lyrics–including a wonderfully cathartic chorus (“I bet it sucks to be YOU!”)–that ought to have middle fingers hoisted in the air at every club across the nation this summer.
And while the mere inclusion of JoJo already makes “Sucks To Be You” an instant smash, it’s her gloriously stinging verse that truly takes the song to the next level: “Boy, you’re shit out of luck / You’re gon’ be sleeping alone,” the 20-year-old songstress bitterly croons as the beat drops low. YOU DON’T. FUCK. WITH JOJO.
Don’t like it? Well then…I guess it sucks to be you.
DL: Clinton Sparks – Sucks To Be You (feat. LMFAO & JoJo)
“Sucks To Be You” is featured on Sparks’ latest mixtape (My Awesome Mixtape), which is now available for free at his official website.

Check out this brand new snippet from Britney‘s Femme Fatale, “Drop Dead Beautiful,” featuring Warner Bros. recording artist Sabi of The Bangz, which premiered earlier tonight on BadMediaKarma.
The song, which was produced by Benny Blanco, Ammo, JMIKE and Billboard, sounds a bit like a mix between Usher‘s “OMG” and The Fame-era Lady Gaga. We’ve definitely got some Sassney going on here!
And now, as a co-excluusive with my friends over at BMK, here’s a first look at the first verse and chorus lyrics from “Drop Dead Beautiful,” plus Sabi’s rap!
Ooh!
Diamond diamond, shinin’ shinin’
Oh boy you’re so fine
Gotta be the finest thing that I’ve seen in my life
I will pay whatever just to get a better view
And yeah, your body looks so sick, I think I caught the fluLook at you, look at you
Be my sweetie, be my honey tonight (2x)‘Cause you’re beautiful (DROP DEAD)
Beautiful (DROP DEAD) (6x)
You’re some kind of fineSabi’s rap:
Boy, boy look at you
I wanna get, get, get next to you
Got me kinda hot but I ain’t sweating you
Steaming like a pot full of vegetables
Boy, boy look at me
I know you want to touch but it ain’t for free
I don’t need your money, I just want your D
Boy come over here witch’yo sexy ass!
Femme Fatale will be released on March 29. (iTunes)

Fact: The Swedish government puts trace quantities of MDMA in the drinking water in Sweden. Because of this, Swedes feel their emotions with earth-shattering profundity, and have no choice but to make devastatingly beautiful pop music about it.
Fact: What I just wrote was not entirely true. (They use GHB.)
Seriously though, the music coming out of Sweden right now is at least twice as amazing as the next-most amazing thing you’re listening to right now (sorry, “Bruno Mars“). In my new series, Amazing Things I’m Listening to From Sweden, I discuss the best shimmery gloom-pop that our Scandineighbors have to offer, and explain why it’s better than your faves.
The Sound of Arrows – Nova
The Sound of Arrows are attractive Swedish boys who make delirious musical confections and have a track record of re-swizzling excellent tracks like like Gaga‘s “Alejandro” and Alphabeat‘s “Hole In My Heart” into sparkly pop masterpieces. This should be a no-brainer, right? And yet, as likable as “M.A.G.I.C” and “Into the Clouds” were, it never fully resonated with me. Their new single, “Nova,” finally hits all the right notes; it’s a lurching, swirling, wistful slice of synthpop that I can’t stop playing — and given the recent UK success of acts like Hurts, this next stab at success feels like perfect timing.
September – Party In My Head
As a platinum-haired Swedish songbird making happy-sad electro-pop, it’s something of an inevitability that September frequently comes in second to Robyn, her better-known counterpart. But even if September’s music has never been as masterfully evocative as Robyn is at her best, September’s output is refreshingly — consistent. The euphoric thrill of “Resuscitate Me” was a surefire crowd-pleaser, but September’s next Swedish single from her latest LP, Love CPR, is tipped to be “Party In My Head.” It’s an old-fashioned club stormer peppered with Usher-style “Ay!”s and an irresistible sing-song chorus (“I don’t care if the whole club is dead/ ‘Cause the party’s in my head, the party’s in my head”).
Asha Ali – The Beat
An Ethiopian-Swedish singer and writer, Asha Ali‘s breathy, emotive delivery and distinctive lyrics should have made her a big star — but alas, she remains virtually unknown outside of Sweden. Soulful single “Fire, Fire” and summery “Hurricane” set a solid precedent, but she’s hit her stride with “The Beat,” a haunting lo-fi number with hypnotic percussion and wistful vocals.
The Pusher – Blinded By the Dark
From looking at the single artwork, you’d think that The Pusher are a band comprised of those guys your college boyfriend used to have jam sessions with in the student lounge. And the opening moments of “Blinded By the Dark,” to be fair, deliver on the melodramatic title by sounding no different from the derivative post-grunge pablum that stateside acts like Nickelback and Daughtry are currently generating. But give it a minute. By the time that piercing, anthemic pop chorus comes around — a chorus that Erik Hassle would just kill for — it’s easy to see why “Blinded By the Dark” has been topping the Swedish charts.
Firefox AK – Boom Boom Boom
I’ve been having a love affair with Firefox AK for several years now — her debut, Madame, Madame, was decadent with electropop gems like eerie “What’s That Sound” and the jittery “Habibi,” and her sophomore LP, If I Were a Melody, remains as glitchily gorgeous as anything else I heard in 2008. Her most recent single, “Boom Boom Boom,” is perhaps mellower, but no less catchy than her earlier efforts, given its sickly sweet chorus and cool, shiny instrumentation.
(Note that an honorable mention is in order to Erik Hassle’s spectacular new single “Are You Leaving,” which would have topped this list had it not already been featured as a MuuMuse Approved track.)
Helena Paparizou, the Greek-Swedish chanteuse who first rocketed to fame after winning Eurovision in 2005, is about to release a new single that’s definitely worth some attention: “Baby It’s Over.”
The Auto-Tune happy, synth-pop heavy smash starts off like any other radio-friendly pop song of the moment, utilizing a synth pattern and chord progression blatantly lifted from Usher‘s Max Martin-produced “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love.”
The greatness truly begins at the :50 mark, when the track takes on an infectious, almost playful electronica beat that merrily tinkers along until the chorus, where the song suddenly nosedives deep into rave-ready territory: “I can’t take it, please don’t make me wait / It’s over / Baby, it’s over!” Paparizou cries out, instantly transforming into a proper disco diva.
Paparizou now seems to be in full swing to promote the track, having performed the track on both Greek X Factor and the fashion show, Mad Walk (along with an incredible cover of En Vogue‘s “Free Your Mind”!)
“Baby It’s Over” is the lead single from Paparizou’s upcoming greatest hits collection, Greatest Hits & More, which is due to be released in late March. (iTunes)
Thanks to Muuser Calen C. for the find!
And now, the first (maybe-kinda-sorta) comeback of 2011: Avril Lavigne!
“What The Hell” is the raucous, pop-rocky lead single from Lavigne’s upcoming studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, due out in early March.
Much in the same vein as 2007′s “Girlfriend,” Lavigne’s first single in almost three years is packed full with rallying chants and a severely bratty ‘tude: “All my life I’ve been good, but now I’m thinking ‘What the hell?’” cries out on top of the song’s colossally catchy, guitar heavy chorus.
“I Do Not Hook Up” this is not, as Lavigne goes on a raging rampage of naughtiness–raging hard, making out with dudez, and breaking hearts without apology along the way.
Along with Lavigne, the track was co-penned by Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish smash hit scribe who’s been a part of the Martin songwriting studio (Maratone Studios) since 2007. Together, the songwriting team brought us such smashes as Britney‘s “3,” P!nk‘s “Raise Your Glass” and Usher‘s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love.”
“What The Hell” has all the makings of a radio smash: Is it different from what we’ve heard? Not at all–it’s very much in line with the musical output of Ke$ha or The Veronicas or P!nk as of late. But who cares? It’s a total guilt-ridden pop anthem that’s already passed the dance-around-my-room-in-my-underwear test, and I’m totally loving it to bits and pieces.
Even if the rest of Goodbye Lullaby won’t sound like this (expect a “more stripped down, deeper” experience, according to Lavigne), it’s still got me itching for more. Bring on the album!
Goodbye Lullaby will be released on March 8. (iTunes)

Still hot from the Internet-killing, bandwidth-shattering success of yesterday’s Top 40 Albums of 2010 list (including a most major of giveaways, in which I’m giving away ALL TEN ALBUMS that made the Top 10 of the list–you still have time to enter up until January 2!), I now present MuuMuse’s Top 50 singles of 2010.
There were a lot of good songs released during the year. A lot of them didn’t end up making the list. It’s entirely unjust and profoundly disturbing to think about, but what can you do?
I don’t feel like explaining my choices…SO I WON’T. Why? Because I am such a fucking rebel. GO TIME!

I first discovered Nicki Minaj back in December of 2009 through a promotional video for “Itty Bitty Piggy,” one of the tracks off of Minaj’s 2009 mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty.
Gum snapping, eyes rolling, breasticles ready to burst from her tight blouse at any given moment–I knew it was love at first sight.

The 2010 American Music Awards aired live tonight. I live-tweeted the event. Well, most of it. (The Walking Dead came on at 10–I do have my priorities, after all.)
So, rather doing a rather drawn-out summary of the affair, I figure I’d just regurgitate what I just said–except with pictures and video links. Lazy, right? Oh, and if you couldn’t tell yet, you should totally be following me on Twitter.
Like Diddy-Dirty Money says…LET’S GO!!111!!! (I luv Jesus.)
