There’s too many updates today!
Damnit, it’s Friday…cool your jets, music industry!
Ever wondered what happened when MPHO wandered onto the set of Girls Aloud‘s “The Loving Kind” and started playing in Nicola’s box? I imagine the above is sort of what would have happened.
Oh yes: Utterly promising, one to watch for ’09, etc. etc.
While on the subject of MPHO, please consider this sage morsel of Tweet introspection from Mr. Darren Hayes:
“Is it just me or does the name of the artist MPHO sound like an acronym for something Britney said recently about a wardrobe malfunction?”
Just try and look at her name without filling in the words…I defy you.
And here we have the official video for “When Love Takes Over,” the song I’ve declared to be the official Summer ’09 Anthem since the end of March.
As you can see, the video (much like the song) delivers, using lots of bright colors and gorgeous, sun-shining visuals to create that essential Ibiza-esque sensation. Not that this clip had to be so involved–in fact, it was a pleasant surprise to see that there was a video to begin with!
My only criticism would be not enough screen time for that ridiculously fierce dress on K. Rowland.
Yeah-ee-yeah.
Thanks to Muuser RJ for alerting me pronto!
This is a track that first popped up on my radar (on my ray-duh) back last year, but only now is it finally seeing what we in the industry like to refer to as a ‘proper release.’
Dan Black‘s “Symphonies” is a blend of the now instantly recognizable drum beat from RiRi‘s “Umbrella” and a cover of sorts of Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Hypnotize.”
The result is something altogether pleasing–catchy, melodic, and slightly angelic all in the same go around.
Oh, and the video is superb, traveling the highs and lows of contemporary film advertisements and title scenes. Shame Amanda Lepore sort of just did this a month ago with a smaller budget and a lot more lipstick.
DL: Dan Black – Symphonies (Passion Pit Remix)
Dan Black’s album, ((Un)), will be released on July 13.
OH MY FLIPPING BANANA SNAUSAGES, IT’S THE NEW FRANKMUSIK VIDEO!!!
Things of note:
+ Holly Valance‘s acting skills while strolling along town. WHERE IS HER OSCAR.
+ Holly Valance’s karate skills while being mugged. Clearly, filming Dead or Alive has had a lasting effect on her general composure in life.
+ The lady-getting-mugged-and-paintballed-in-the-doorway bit sort of frightens me and leaves me completely unresolved.
+ Mr. Frank looks ridiculously attractive in the last ten seconds, leading to…
+ HOW ‘BOUT THAT KISS, EH?!
And that was “Confusion Girl,” ladies and gentlemen.
Here now is the video for Moby‘s “first self-produced” single from his upcoming album Wait For Me, “Pale Horses.”
Spoiler Alert: If the song doesn’t make you want to kill yourself, the video surely will.
There’s been so many video premieres this week…
It’s quite late, and I’m quite tired, but I couldn’t help but post this most gorgeous video from Miss Natasha Khan. Looking a bit like a middle school production of the Big Bang Theory, Ms. Lashes floats, zaps, and glitters her way through a most mystical interpretation of one of the best tracks from her considerably solid second effort, Two Suns. And all while wearing Brandon Flowers‘ hairy shoulder coat.
J’adore.

Oh, boy…I’m about to get in trouble for this one.
If you’re not already following me on Twitter (WHICH YOU SHOULD BE), you’d know that I’ve banded together a crew of Lady GAGa haters, known more affectionately as Team G.A.G.A. (Gays Against Gaga Alliance). We’re kind of like the Tila Army…but a little bit more homosexual.
However, I fear that I must be honest with both myself and my troops. After all, what use would a blogger offer that doesn’t keeps it reals?
This video is, in fact…quite decent. Coupled with the fact that “Paparazzi” is one of the best songs off of The Fame (which, as I will still contend, was one of the Top 10 Albums of ’08), a fun story line (even though the paparazzi plight has been exploited enough by the OG’s of Fame Whorery), and the costumes simply marvelous (aside from the borderline offensive Gimpy Gaga mode), it’s damn near unstoppable.
Sprinkle in a plethora of dead and dangling models to boot? Now that’s something I can truly sink my teeth into.
This is not to say that I think I will ever like Gaga. I just don’t care for her persona, plain and simple. Show me an interview in which she’s even slightly appealing–I defy you. I find she behaves like an oversexed Paris Hilton the night after a bender, except overly courteous and egocentric in the most exaggerated and bloated manner.
Still, she’s pulled it out, and a small part of me is nearly willing to deem her “quite smart.”
So what to do in this slippery situation? I don’t know…keep watching, I guess.
In honor of the upcoming DVD release of the Sticky & Sweet Tour, Madonna has teamed up with BlackBerry (~capitalist whore~) for a promotion in which customers who purchase a new BlackBerry Bold smartphone qualify for 10 free video clips from the concert.
Luckily, the world’s already got a hold of ‘em.
Okay…perhaps my youth has already faded before I’ve even reached the legal age to drink, but I literally cannot watch this! What the FUCK is going on with the editing for this tour?! It goes too fast!
I know this world’s attention span’s whittled down to nearly nothing now, but I can barely grasp what’s going on before the scene shoots to another shot. Surely we can still appreciate at least three seconds of Madonna in still frame!
Here’s another, the video montage of “Die Another Day” that I loved in person, now LITERALLY UNWATCHABLE WITHOUT VOMITING.
UGH! Still holding out hope for the best ones: “Human Nature,” “She’s Not Me,” and “Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You.”
