Danity Kane Drops “Bye Baby,” Their First New Song Since Reuniting

THIS IS NOT A DANITY DRILL.

One month after hitting the stage in a killer Danity Komeback performance at the House Of Blues in LA, the fabulous foursome known as Danity Kane have arrived in 2014 with their first taste of new material.

The song, which just premiered on Rap-Up, is called “Bye Baby.”

The track is a funky fresh disco groove, as the girls fiercely strut their stuff across sexy guitar licks, blaring horns, hand claps and tambourines. “It might look easy, but it’s hard to walk in my shoes,” Dawn cautions. “Boy, please don’t complain when I flip the script up on you.” All of the girls’ vocals are on point — and of course, Miss Aubrey O’Slay nails those notes in the second verse. Sang!

“If I gave you all my love, would you die for me? Ride or die for me?” they croon, supplying their own Danity Twist on J-Lo‘s “If You Had My Love.” Think you got what it takes to ride with the ladies of DK?

Considering the troupe was talking about a “rockier” sound back when they first regrouped (as with “All In A Day’s Work,” which they premiered live at their showcase), it’s surprising to hear this kind of throwback disco sound. Actually, this is more in the style of Pharrell‘s latest productions, like Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky,” Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” and Leah Labelle‘s “Lolita.” And yet, it still retains that classic Danity Kane-era R&B sound.

It’s fresh, it’s fire, and it’s a thrilling preview of what’s still to come. Watch out, world — Danity Kane is back.

ROCK-A-BUH-BYE, BYE BABY!

Cassie REFERENCE?

Now then, let’s get a studio version of “All In A Day’s Work” while we’re at it, yeah?
