Girls Aloud Are Counting Down to Something Kinda Ooooh

The members of Girls Aloud have started a countdown on social media.

Calling all gift-wrapped kitty cats, Campari-drinking Soho soaks, guys with the terrible hair and everyone in between: this is not a drill.

The members of the Almighty Girls Aloud have started a countdown on social media, teasing something kinda…ooooh.

Hot on the spike heels (and skin-tight jeans) of The Sun‘s too-good-to-be-true (?) exclusive report that the ladies are plotting a comeback of epic proportions for 2024, and right in the middle of the band’s ongoing digitalization of the singles from What Will the Neighbours Say? on streaming, Nicola Fucking Roberts sent Alouders spiraling with a very casual Sunday afternoon (November 19) post.

The post? The number 4 emoji, along with footage of cars parked in front of a screen with the number “4.”

Chaos and meltdowns ensued. Could it be? Is this the start of announcing something new?

To be sure, the fandom stayed waiting to See The Day 24 hours later, hoping for any other member of the Guinness World Record-setting girl group to speak up with a “3.”

And lo and behold, birthday girl Kimberley Walsh did exactly that on Monday (November 20) – giving us the “3” we were bracing for.

This is no longer a coincidence: it’s a full panic.

There’s only two more to go: my guess is our Derry Queen Nuhdeen Coyle goes next with the “2,” followed by the “Call My Name” pop princess Cheryl Tweedy Cole Fernandez-Versini Almost Payne Just Cheryl herself using her one quarterly Instagram grid post to post the “1.”

UPDATE (November 21): our beloved beach and city girl delivered. One to go…

That also leaves the Girls Aloud announcement to fall on Thanksgiving Thursday (November 23), giving us all a reason to truly be thankful. (Yes, I’m aware the primary audience for an Aloud reunion doesn’t even do Thanksgiving over there in Swinging London Town, but the loyal Alouders stateside will be ugly sobbing into their turkey and mashed potatoes.)

Keep calm, carry on, and join me in manifesting a (Whole Lotta) History-making return celebrating the band’s record-breaking run and our beloved Sarah Harding‘s legacy in 2024. (If you missed it, here’s a breakdown of the comeback rumors.)

Oh! And the “Love Machine” EP just dropped on streaming too, including the Gravitas “Disco” Mix, the Tony Lamezma Full Length Club mix, and the B-side “Androgynous Girls,” a one-time contender for their album’s lead single. And in the meantime, I’ll breathe underwater ’cause I like the way it feels.
