Daily B: Britney Breaks Records and Hits Number 1 on iTunes, “Hold It Against Me” Lyric Contest Winner Announced

First of all, major congratulations are in order:

Not only did Britney just hit #1 on iTunes in fourteen countries (and counting!) including the USA, Australia and France, but she broke the record for most first day radio spins EVER with 705 spins!

#1 on 1.11.11? Get it, B!

And now, it’s time to give away a prize!

If you remember a few weeks back when Dr. Luke first began to tweet lyrics from “Hold It Against Me,” I created the MuuMuse “Hold It Against Me” Lyric Contest.

Contest entrants were told to submit their best guess at the first verse and chorus lyrics for Britney’s lead single for a chance to win a $25 American Express gift card. The winner would be the person who most closely guessed the main subject/lyrical flow of “Hold It Against Me.”

Now that we’ve got the song in our hands, it’s time to announce the winner!

First, the official lyrics:

Hey over there
Please forgive me if I’m coming on too strong
Hate to stare, but you’re winning
And they’re playing my favorite song

So come here, a little closer
Wanna whisper in your ear
Make it clear, little question
Wanna know just how you feel

If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me?

‘Cause you feel like paradise, and I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me?

And so: Congratulations to Muuser Tina L., who submitted the following lyrics:

Hey over there!
Yeah you, sittin’ at the bar gettin’ yo drink on
You think you gon’ tear this club up without me?
Best believe that you come over here
And touch your body next to mine

If I said you had a good bod-ay, would you
Hold it against me?
‘Cause I know DAMN sure we ’bout to get it on!

Although a bit short, Tina not only nailed the general gist of the track, but even included a most genius mention of “bod-ay”–rightly predicting that Britney would be going all Blackoutney (“hay-zay”) with some of her enunciation.

Tina, it’s like you’ve got ESPN or something!

Congratulations all around!
