t.A.T.u.’s Julia Volkova Goes Solo: “Didn’t Wanna Do It” (Video Premiere)

The year: 2002. The planet: Earth. ‘Twas a simpler time. A time when music really meant something. A time when a gorgeous Russian teenage duo dressed in schoolgirl uniforms set the world ablaze with their solid, Sapphic-themed pop classics, including “Not Gonna Get Us,” “All The Things She Said” and “All About Us.”

It was the Time of t.A.T.u.‘s Reign, when we were all truly invincible…and sort of pretending to be lesbians.

But after three incredible studio albums, the t.A.T.u. mega-machine sadly came whirring to a slow finish toward the end of 2010 with their final single, “Sparks.” Since then, the girls have parted ways and thrown in their uniforms to embark on their own solo careers.

While Lena Katina‘s already making her way independently, Julia Volkova has just only begun (having her fun), starting with her debut solo single: “Didn’t Wanna Do It.”

As you may quickly realize, “Didn’t Wanna Do It” is a rather, erm, severe change in style as compared to the darker pop of Julia’s past.

The feisty brunette’s since ditched t.A.T.u.’s brooding act and decided to toss her head back, throw back a few shots and enter into LMFAO-like territory: “I didn’t wanna do it…but I did,” Julia laments across the bubbly, unhinged Euro-dance anthem, trading dooming synthesizers for Far East Movement-friendly thumps. It’s a ridiculously raunchy, filthy fun club cut, and that chorus ain’t leaving my brain anytime soon.

And just in case you were concerned that Julia was straying too far from the t.A.T.u. Standard of Excellence on her springy new club anthem, fear not: She’s still got that lady lust! “One thing led to another, we looked at each other/And then she started kissing and feeling me up,” she croons during the ode to giving in to the drink and having a go with a girlfriend. Oh Julia, just what would Lena think?

Below is the MuuMuse Excluusive world premiere of the English version of the video for “Didn’t Wanna Do It,” which–as you might have already guessed–features a wet ‘n’ wild Julia getting loose on the goose. Wet tees, hair flips and…Free Love Parties?! Show me love, indeed.

Caution: MuuMuse will not be held responsible if you end up
doing something you didn’t wanna do, but you did.

“Didn’t Wanna Do It” was released on August 21. (iTunes UK)
