Sevyn Streeter Serves Up Acoustic Rendition of “It Won’t Stop,” Slays

Sevyn Streeter‘s “It Won’t Stop” is one of my favorite songs of the summer.

It’s smooth. It’s sexy. The beat’s on another level (thanks Diplo & Free School), and Sevyn’s velvety-smooth vocals make me feel some type of way — specifically like I’m lounging poolside in California rather than stepping in hot garbage and getting dripped on by air conditioners on the sweaty streets of New York City. It’s transportive, if you will.

On Tuesday, Sevyn released an acoustic rendition of her summer swoon anthem and, as it turns out, the song’s a smash when sung acoustically, too.

Surrounded by dozens of flickering, Holy Spearit-approved vanilla candles, the talented singer-songstress belts out her gorgeous tune alongside a lone guitarist — and that’s it. All vocals, no frills. She keeps it sweet, sultry and controlled with all those melodic runs, but by the end, Sevyn’s belting with all her might. Why? ‘Cause she can — and it sounds great. Forever and ever on repeat…

Sevyn’s working on her debut solo album, tentatively due out later this year.

“It Won’t Stop” was released on May 22. (iTunes)
