“Adore”: Ariana Grande Makes Mumbly Magic With Cashmere Cat

Ariana Grande: Talented vocalist. Mortal enemy of enunciation.

Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat already teamed up with everyone’s favorite demon-seeing, left side only Kabbalah Kutie in the past with “Be My Baby” on last year’s My Everything. And so, to return the favor, Ari’s just supplied her sweetly incoherent coos to “Adore,” one of Cashmere’s own productions.

Cashmere’s quickly becoming a certified One To Watch in the industry — he just produced Kanye‘s “Wolves” with Sia and Vic Mensa — and this song’s a pretty good exercise in flexing his production skills. There’s lots of texture in the shape-shifting R&B cut, full of twinkling electronica and big bass beats, all complimented by Ari’s soaring melodies.

As for what she’s singing about? Your guess is as good as mine! Something about swans, maybe? I’m just going off the single art. Or maybe she’s singing about Big Sean. Maybe! “You got me screaming…MAH, MAHHYY, MAMAMA!

We already knew that she requires translation, but seriously…color me mostly stumped.

“Adore” was released on March 3. (iTunes)
