Sky Ferreira’s New Album Is Inspired By Fever Ray (Thank God)

Tonight, on #SKYWATCH: Sky Ferreira is listening to one of her favorite albums, Fever Ray‘s self-titled debut — that’s Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife, mind you — and it’s serving as a major inspiration for her upcoming sophomore record, Masochism.

For those unfamiliar, Fever Ray was released back in 2009, and it’s a wonderfully brooding, emotional and cinematic body of work — electro-Swede strangeness at its best. “Still one of my favorite albums ever. Big big big influence for Masochism 🔪,” Sky Instagrammed earlier this evening. This is a very, very good thing. (Look at me writing about Fever Ray back when she first debuted when I was still a baby blogger! So young. So pure. So full of life, then.)

Now give us that “Guardian,” Sky.

While we impatiently await Sky’s “cinematic” song this summer, imagine the “Everything Is Embarrassing” beauty tackling this number.

The birth of Sky Feverrayeira is now.
