Black Eyed Peas: Imma Be
Filed in: Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas

Am I missing something? I think I am.
Earlier today, the blogosphere and twitterverse temporarily went ape-shit regarding the Black Eyed Peas‘ possible next single, “Imma Be” off of their upcoming album, THE E.N.D.. The usually reliable-though-ncreasingly-sensational PopJustice tweeted “Have just heard a literally brilliant Black Eyed Peas song (!!!)” (According to DanneeeBoy, this is not the song that PJ previewed., but rather “I Got A Feeling.” Thank goodness!) while the New York Post wrote that the track “sounds as amazing as these guys can quite possibly get.”
I couldn’t even get to the end of the song!
What the shit is this?! It’s like a forgettable knock-off of Beyoncé‘s “Diva” mixed with the already annoying quality of, well, the Black Eyed Peas! It does meld into a more acceptable, loungey synth affair towards the end, but still…
I get “Boom Boom Pow.” I do. But THIS?!

That song was pretty painful. I also didn’t finish it at all.
So bad it will almost certainly be in heavy radio rotation by the end of the week. Damn that sucks ass.
KILL IT.
What happened to “Weekend” or “Request Line” or even the Elephunk album BEP?
Eff this shit.
Fuck “Weekend” or “Request Line”. What happened to “Joints and Jams” or “Fallin’ Up”. There used to be a day where you could group the Peas in a similar category to The Roots.
Amen to not getting this song. “Boom Boom Pow” is as much of a guilty pleasure as “My Humps”, but this shit? This is as painful as those Will.i.am/Bob Dylan mash-up commercials. This is like Will.i.am surprising me on the toilet via hologram while I’m taking a shit. Seriously.
I’m not hating it nearly as much as y’all. And I thoroughly hated “Boom Boom Pow”.
It’s exactly what BEP should be doing at this stage: vapidity that’s fun to dance to. Because even though will.i.am’s solo shit wasn’t actually that bad, I’m not expecting groundbreaking new stuff from these guys.
It’s not quite on “My Humps” level of hilarious brilliance, but I like it for now.
