Lady Gaga: Bad Romance (Video Premiere)

Filed in: Lady Gaga, Video Premiere

Ladies and gentlemen, the video of the year: Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”

God, where to start? Honestly. each summary of the video I’ve attempted to write in the past hour ends up spilling out as a frantic shouting of nouns. (The Alexander McQueen! The big sunglasses! The ugly cat! The sex trafficking! The fire! The hair! The fire-boobie contraption’s comeback!)

Basically, “Bad Romance” is as though David LaChapelle, Alexander McQueen, George Romero, and the Wachowski brothers, and a handful of gay men with a sense of humor were tossed into a room with a camera, a million dollar budget, and then told, “The theme is sex trafficking…GO.”

Mademoiselle Gaga has effectively stolen my heart away: It isn’t just she’s married high fashion with classic horror–she also proves to be a damn good dancer to boot.

If there are those still dubious about whether Gaga’s on her way to becoming a pop icon, this video effectively nullifies all doubt. Fuck “Single Ladies”…this is history in the making.

Has the new Queen officially arrived? I believe, yes.

FINALLY,

the new GAGA video. WAAAW what a revelation! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I did’nt expect that from GAGA so much originality.

A video about fashion again, on an uptempo song again, produced by RedOne again. Making some moves like she think she can dance, again. I have a good idea let’s wear some hearphones, again. I’m gonna be naked, again. And if you don’t think i’m original, well i’m gonna wear crazy clothes (condom ouffit LMFAO), with crazy hairstyle, and act crazy… AGAIN.

Well thank you GAGA for showing me how unpredictable you are. I thought you’ll do something esle, something different, that i don’t expect. Well you actually did the same, and like I said, i didn’t expect that.

You might think I’m a hater, well just call me…

Gaga hate comments remind me why I had no legitimate argument to hate on Gaga in the first place…

I can only hope I didn’t sound as unintelligent as this back in that darker era.

Poetic. Fashion meets horror meets ‘Pans Labyrinth’ meets Hitchcock.

wow! subversive commentary as well this round! i think she’s becoming something beautiful and terrifying and cheap and artful.
and that makes me happy.
ps- the hint that she’ll end up destroying her “purchaser” when you notice the mummified skinless cat in her costume is fuckin’ ACE! geez… to think i hated her SO MUCH at one point! this makes “lovegame” look like a high school media project.

[...] in which the reviewer professed to being reduced to the spouting of nouns – as in “The big sunglasses! The ugly cat! The sex trafficking! The fire! The hair! The fire-boobie contrapti…” – and I can’t disagree. This shit has to be seen to be believed, because I [...]

Lady Gaga is my God, she is an amazing performer! This video is f****** amazing, I just can’t get over how good she is. There is not ONE song of her’s I don’t like…”Poker Face”, “Just Dance”, “Love Game”, “Paparazzi”, “Boys Boys Boys”, Starstruck”, “Beatiful Dirty Rich” and now “Bad Romance” have all been BIG hits, and all off one album. I’ve never seen too many stars do that! Great plot and so unique. Love GA GA :)
