So much Janet in my life lately. Ever since I purchased the Number Ones collection, I just can’t stop (’til I get enough, as it were.)
The video for “Make Me” is essentially all one could hope for in a video to promote her greatest hits collection: Glamour shots, solid choreography, stylized camera techniques and edgy fashion. It’s just the right mix of all the essential Jackson elements, recalling the best moments of “Rhythm Nation,” “Scream,” and “Feedback” (amongst others) to remind us why she has always been the premiere princess of Pop.
Bravo, Ms. Jackson…bravo!

As I was debating the legitimacy of Britney‘s musical talent with a friend of mine (what else does one do at two in the morning?), I was reminded of the time that Brit was featured playing “Everytime” in a documentary for ABC in 2003 before the release of In The Zone.
This is actually one of my very favorite Britney moments. It’s so honest. Just her singing and playing….beautifully, no less! She even talks about writing “Everytime” and talks about writing songs, as though it were something she did often. I wish we could see more of that…
Sigh…I want Britney to write again. Yes, there’s “My Baby,” but…“Let Go”? Gimme, gimme more.
Thanks to YouTube user mbusturde, you can now view the entire yesterday’s ABC special interview with Janet Jackson.
The focus of the special is largely Michael-related, although she does delve into some personal topics as well, including her relationships, her career highlights and her struggles with depression and body issues.
Additionally, we do manage to get a little scoop on her latest work (she’s writing again!), including an extended teaser of the video for “Make Me” which, to my great surprise, is looking pretty sharp.
Even if she may come across as guarded from time to time, it’s the poise and professionalism exhibited throughout this interview that’s carried her through the industry for over twenty five years.
…And now, I shall return to grooving to my new copy of Janet’s Number Ones. Love!
#22 on the Top 200 Albums Chart.
Shocking really, given that there was little to no promotion for the campaign.
I guess it’s true what they say: Everybody really does loves *MOAN.*
MuuMuse has been invited to premiere the excluusive stream of Temposhark‘s fiesty new single, “Bye Bye Baby” off of the upcoming album, Threads.
The song, co-written by Rob Diament and the song’s producer, Sean McGhee, will be released on November 23 from all digital outlets, along with remixes by Japayork, Melnyk and Monsieur Adi.
The video was just released on ArjanWrites as well, which you can check out right here.
So, what do you think?

Today, Paper Bag Records celebrates its Sweet 7 in the industry (as a certain bunch of ‘Babes might say) with the release of a free cover album, featuring many of its recording artists. Among the tracks? Sally Shapiro‘s “Dying in Africa.” Yep–it’s a cover!
“Dying in Africa” was originally recorded by Nicolas Makelberge, a Swedish synth-pop artist. As far as I can tell, he’s only released one album–Dying in Africa, back in August of 2006.
If you want, you can hear many of the album tracks on his label’s site, which I strongly recommend. The entire record is well-done; a highly stylized, slightly darker collection of throbbing, ’80′s-inspired pop tunes.
Not only did I fall for the original artist and album, but the artwork as well. There was something about the cover’s clean lines and sophisticated style (see above) that really stuck a chord with me. After some more digging around on the label’s website, I found that the album layout was conceived by Ylva Lindberg, the same artist behind Friday Bridge‘s Bite My Tongue.
With that, I effectively discovered an artist, an album, and a graphic designer of my liking all in one go.
Très neat.
Huzzah! It’s Lady Gaga‘s The Fame Monster television campaign.
I guess we now know what the singles are going to be (and perhaps even their order of release): “Bad Romance,” Telephone,” “Alejandro,” and “Monster.”
Four singles worth, and yet it still feels like they’re missing out on more of the album! Half to be exact. Can’t she just pull a Beysus and keep ‘em coming until we’ve heard the entire album on the radio at some point or another?
